A simple IWB counting game to develop children’s fluency using number bonds to 10 by counting penguins.

This is an ideal maths game to model using the ten-frame to explore number bonds to 10. Ask the children to count the number of penguins they see in the ten-frame and work out how many more penguins need to be added to make 10. Children could write the matching calculation on individual whiteboards OR show the match number with their fingers as part of whole class teaching and learning. This game may also work well as part of a guided group work session. Children may also enjoy interacting with this game during continuous provision. Children are invited to click on the matching number card that would make 10 penguins altogether.

This Number Bonds to 10 game is designed in Powerpoint and easily adaptable to work on different arrangements of 10. (28 slides in length)
