So here we are, in the EIGHTH week back (finally half term next week here in the North West!), dark nights beginning and the Summer holidays a distant memory!! So much has happened, and is still happening!
AS IT IS HALF TERM, THIS ONE COVERS UP TO NOVEMBER 10TH, WHEN WE START BACK FOR THE CHRISTMAS TERM!
2025 begins with ever more testing, increasingly expensive, unpredictable, record-breaking and emotional times we’ve seen recently with a variety of stories from around the world!
What a week once again - Man U fight back, first female PM Louvre robbery, USA GP, internet outage, restaurant closures, bass player passes, NASA mission news, horror sequel, clocks change, movie Boss biopic and a horror icon returns for halloween!!??!! What’s all that about, then? Only one way to find out! The Neeeewwwwsss Quuuiiiizzzz! :)
New quiz uploaded each week of the term, ALL YEAR LONG! Over fifteen years now and still going strong :) Many thanks to everyone who downloads this, it is very much appreciated and I’m glad it is useful for your form groups!
13 topical questions of the past week’s news, across the UK and the world.
Designed to be used as a 10-20 minute activity in formtime - you could make it a little longer by talking about and discussing some of the questions.
ANY MIS-SPELLINGS/MISSING CAPITALS ETC. IN THE PREVIEW ARE INTENTIONAL AND LINK TO THE LITERACY QUESTIONS IN THE REST OF THE QUIZ!
Powerpoint so can be used on a standard whiteboard.
Includes 2 literacy and 1 numeracy questions based on the other questions.
Works well as a form group activity in registration time - I give sweets to the winning team (we’re not supposed to give sweets out, so it’s a nice ‘naughty’ reward and makes (some of) them watch and check their apps about the news in the week. :)
