This resource has been carefully created to help Primary Schools be prepared and fit for purpose for any Ofsted inspection. I have recently ( just before lockdown) had the experience of an Ofsted ‘Deep Dive’ PE inspection. The new framework is just an important in PE as other subjects and I have created this resource partly because we did well in our inspection but also because I realised we could do better after reflecting on the inspection experience.

This resource gives examples of the subjects being taught in accordance with PE curriculum guidance and crucially provides reasoning and validation as why the subject is being taught, what knowledge children gain and what Padagogy is being used. These 3 factors of ‘Why, knowledge and Padagogy’ are ( from my experience) the key focus for Ofsted.

This Map also provides clarity and focus to help both medium and long term planning, there is a working example of a long term yearly PE plan. It also has in-depth explanations as to how PE supports pupil premium and vulnerable children and PSHE. The mapping shows the key progressions form each key stage and gives highlights what is being taught and how this benefits children’s physical and mental development.

It can be edited to fit your school’s profile as most school’s have their own personal mission statements and values. This resource does provide links to cultural, religious and British values as an example of how PE links to these subjects. I’ve loaded it as a Power point so that it can used in staff meetings.
