A practical, symbol-supported communication book designed for pupils with SEND who need support to express their wants, needs, feelings and choices throughout the school day.

The book combines frequently used core vocabulary, including “I”, “want”, “help”, “more”, “finished”, “stop”, “like” and “not”, with topic-specific vocabulary organised into clear sections. Pages cover greetings, personal care, food, feelings, people, school activities and regulation. Alphabetical and QWERTY spelling pages, numbers to 20 and a blank page for adding personalised vocabulary are also included.

Two complete versions are provided. The AAC-coloured version uses colour coding similar to that found within many grid-based AAC systems, helping pupils who are familiar with coloured communication grids to navigate the vocabulary. A neutral-coloured version is also included for pupils who find additional colour distracting or for settings that use a different colour-coding system.

Each page includes a clearly labelled tab and is designed to be printed, laminated and assembled into an accessible classroom communication book. The simple, spacious layout supports visual scanning without overcrowding the page.

This resource may be particularly useful for pre-verbal and minimally verbal pupils, AAC users and learners with autism, complex communication needs, PMLD or SLD. It can be used consistently across classroom routines, snack and lunchtime, personal care, sensory activities, regulation sessions and wider school environments.
