
Children are to read and discuss stories, identifying the different characters and voices by using dramatised reading and puppets. Identify the features and conventions of written dialogue, demonstrate and then write dialogue. Compare this with a play based on the same story. Write and perform play scripts based on familiar stories.

Group work - Working in pairs and groups helps children to develop their social skills as they share their ideas and thinking. How to improve their own and others work.
Communication - Children will develop their ability to discuss the content and presentation of the reports they are listening to, reading and writing. They will often work collaboratively in pairs and groups. They will communicate outcomes orally, in writing and through ICT.
Reasoning - Children will have the opportunity to give suggestions and reasons for why characters move from one place to the next and give ideas about characters of plays and how they came to that decision.
