This Year 1 science resource helps children to understand the process of observing changes in trees over time. They will make predictions, identify changes and record their observations through drawing and writing, using a Tree Log (Disclaimer: NOT an actual log! Haha). Children will learn useful topic-related words, be posed interesting questions (Think-lets), follow highly structured teaching slides (Teach-lets) and work independently to observe and record their findings.

This resource provides a single challenge - to predict, observe and record their findings about the changes in trees over time. It is modelled and scaffolded using Teach-lets and useful words to prompt writing. The Tree Log - Prediction and Observation sheet is included.

‘Working Scientifically - Observing Trees’ can be explored through this exciting, engaging and original resource. It will give you the tools to teach with focus and confidence, knowing your pupils will successfully develop essential scientific knowledge and skills.
