An ideal first lesson for Yr 7 (or possibly an induction/transition lesson)
- Powerpoint including clear instructions for practical and starter activity on safety and identifying hazards. Only equipment needed - universal indicator and a big bottle of sparkling water (needs to be fresh to see a good colour change on heating)
- Worksheet on identifying common hazard symbols.
- Hw sheet for a safety poster
- Bunsen burner “licence” certificate for students to be given after they have shown independence in lighting and using the bunsen burners.
