This SOW was created for year 9 but can easily be adapted for KS2 or KS4 due to the structure of the lesson.

Inquiry question is “How do Hindu narratives demonstrate the right way for Hindus to live their lives?”

Lessons are sequenced to retrieve prior learning and then build on the foundation with a strong knowledge of key terminology and Hindu beliefs and practices by the end of the unit.

Lessons have been created to be engaging. Historical stories with modern interpretations for them. The aim is that students will be able to implement the moral of the Hindu narratives into their own lives.

Lesson 1- Is Hinduism Monotheistic or Polytheistic? (The blind men and the elephant)
Lesson 2- How do Hindus believe the world was created? (Narrative- Hindu Creation story Ft Trimurti)
Lesson 3- What do Hindus believe about life after death? (Narrative - Reincarnation video)
Lesson 4- What do Hindus believe about Humility (Narrative- Kuberas downfall)
Lesson 5- How do Hindus celebrate the goodness in the world? (Narrative - Ramayana)
Lesson 6- What do Hindus believe about marriage?
