Each of us a single note, but together..music classroom display

I made this as a small team building activity to do with my children’s choir. I printed the file and asked the children to put a finger print on the staff in different coloured inks. We then framed it and put it up in the classroom. In one simple gesture help nurture the understanding that making music together is about all of us in the team. We all contribute different things but those things are all equally worthwhile.

Natural And Harmonic Minor Scale Builder Workbook, PDF, instant download, Treble Clef

This instant download workbook has been designed to help students understand the sequencing of intervals in natural minor and harmonic minor scales. It follows on from our Major Scales Workbook. The booklet is available as a pdf so that it can be screen shared with students during virtual teaching or printed out and used by the student at home. The booklet has been designed so that you can introduce the information one bit at a time and use it either as one lesson or broken down into different parts depending on the time available to you and what best suits your student. It has been designed to help students understand both Semi Tones and Tones and the sequence that they appear in, in both the Natural Minor and Harmonic Minor Scale. I designed this workbook inspired by a student of my cousin who was struggling to memorise her scales. We both concluded the student would find it easier if she understood what they were. Hopefully by the end of studying this booklet and playing the games included a student will have an understanding of how a natural minor and harmonic minor scale comes together and will be able to write one out for themselves. My cousin gave the best feedback I could hope for, she said this workbook enabled her to work through the concepts in an organised way and, and this is the good bit, it helped her understand what it is the student does and doesn’t know at this stage. That is so good as teachers, if we can work out what it is our students don’t know we are so much better equipped to help them. I hope this workbook will help your students to understand scales better, feel more confident with them and therefore be able to play them with more confidence, less tension and maybe even enjoy them a bit more! Examples of the pages can be seen in the photographs. Why not add this to your repertoire of teaching tools. Wishing you happy teaching. Also check out our game Major Second Minor Second Shark Chase, a great follow up game to this workbook, and Mikey Music Stands Scale Builder Card Game also available to download from FunMusicMatters.
