Multiplication and Division Puzzles KS2

2 Resources
Fun puzzles worksheets for Key Stage 2 (Year 4 and especially Year 5 and Year 6), ideal for independent work, early finishers activities, starters, challenge / extension tasks or homework. This BUNDLE contains 16 fun Hidden Word / Spot the Mistakes puzzles worksheets for multiplying and dividing in PDF format and full answer keys. Please check the previews to assess suitability. Fast finishers love being challenged by these challenges, plus they make great collaborative starters too! Why not laminate and use again and again, with students using whiteboard pens? Alternatively, you could place them inside dry-erase sleeves. These puzzles worksheets are great to have on hand throughout the year. The 2 resource packs in this BUNDLE are also available separately: Multiplication Puzzle Worksheets Division Puzzle Worksheets Times Tables 2-10 Times Tables 2-12 Doubles to 50 Doubles to 100 / 2-Digit Doubling Doubling 3-Digit Numbers Multiplying by 10 and 100 Multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000 (including decimals) Multiplying by Multiples of 10 and 100 (including decimals) Division with Table Facts 2-9 Division with Table Facts 2-12 Halving Numbers to 100 Halving 2 and 3 Digit Numbers Halving 3 Digit Numbers Dividing by 10 and 100 Dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 Dividing by Multiples of 10 and 100 An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, they can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after completing the calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing errors, then put together the letters from these boxes to reveal a maths word. There is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word. Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking the calculations in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves. The range of puzzles in this resource is ideal for differentiation and revision and / or to cater for a range of groups and classes across Key Stage 2 and early KS3. Hopefully they’ll be helpful for your teaching over many years. This BUNDLE includes two 36-card sets of addition and subtraction mental maths self-check write and wipe trail cards to be laminated for pupils to complete with wipeable pens. 36 cards for each of: * Adding and subtracting within 20 * Adding and subtracting within 50 Both packs are available to purchase separately or as part of this larger Addition and Subtraction KS1 Cards BUNDLE (144 cards). The other 2 packs in the bigger bundle are: Adding and Subtracting Multiples of 10 Adding and Subtracting 9 and 11 They can be used by individuals or you could have pairs or small groups racing against each other to complete trails accurately. Very flexible and great to have in the classroom all year round to use as a meaningful last-minute filler! Starting at the top illustration and working their way around the card in a spiral, children write the answer to each calculation in the box, creating a running total as they go. The final answer is printed at the end of the trail, beside the illustration in the middle of the card, so they can see if they have correctly completed it. If not, children can check their work to see where they have gone wrong. Answer cards can be used by the pupils themselves or by the teacher to see at a glance where pupils have gone wrong. Print and laminate if required. Click here for a free sample of my Write and Wipe Add and Subtract Trails. I hope your pupils enjoy using these cards. Homophones Spelling Games Activities BUNDLE

2 Resources
10 KS2 Year 4, Year 5 or Year 6 spelling games to make learning about homophones and near homophones fun. This could be used as a home learning activity, with a child aiming to reach a target of correct answers in a given time. These ‘splat’ SPaG activities include the following words that are often muddled up and misspelled: there / their / they’re (64 sentences included) it’s / its (64 sentences included) where / were / we’re / wear (64 sentences) whether / weather (32 sentences) knew / new (32 sentences) your / you’re (64 sentences) here / hear (64 sentences) to / two / too (64 sentences) threw / through (32 sentences) no / know (32 sentences) CONTENTS: 2 PDF documents (37 pages in total) 2 PowerPoint (10 slides in total) This bundle is comprised of 2 homophone splat game packs that are also available separately: Homophones Games 1 Homophones Games 2 The games revolve around a total of 512 sentences which model a variety of structures so that while children are learning about the spelling of commonly confused words they are also learning about how to use a range of openers, connectives, sub-clauses etc to construct interesting sentences. Many sentences are silly to further engage children! It’s a challenge to make SPaG work active and engaging, rather than relying solely on worksheets and these homophones splat games are ideal for fun consolidation during the main part of SPaG lessons or can be used as purposeful early finisher and/or starter activities. If you print and laminate them all, children could self-select the homophones they need to practise. It is best played in small groups, where children each take a sentence card which features 8 sentences with a homophone word in it (homophone words are printed in bold). Children take it in turns to read a sentence from their card while the others compete to splat the correct homophone flashcard (homophone flashcards are included in black and white as well as fun colour ‘explosion’ style cards so you can choose which to print). The first student to hit the correct homophone word scores a point. Students could lose a point for hitting the wrong word to stop them being tempted to guess early. The PowerPoint includes a slide for each game and features the homophone words for splatting as a whole class version on a ‘splattable’ whiteboard, should you so wish. 3 people could compete together each round, perhaps representing 3 teams. Thank you very much. Fun French vocabulary puzzles! There are 8 fun puzzles worksheets for revision of beginner French vocabulary at KS2 or KS3. These no prep printable activities include differentiation, vocabulary support and full answer keys. Please check previews to assess suitability.   Contained in this 35-page PDF file: 8 puzzles worksheets (3 versions of each) Full answer keys Vocabulary list to support students who require it Teacher instruction page   SAVE by getting this in French Revision Worksheets BUNDLE, which also contains French Comprehension Worksheets   Students translate numbered English words and enter into the grid. The letters in the shaded boxes, reading from top to bottom, form a French sentence. Students write this on the lines at the bottom, placing one letter on each dash (slashes separate the words), and translate it. Choose which version you require for your students, depending on age, experience and ability: The 1-star versions have some of the letters added to the grid to support students, the 2-star versions just have the first letter of each word (or if the first letter is in a shaded box, the rest of the word has been supplied instead), while the 3-star versions (hardest) feature entirely blank grids. You can also differentiate by supplying the vocabulary support list to students who require it. This approach works especially well with the 2-star puzzles as students can use the first letter of any word they don’t know to find the French translation relatively quickly. MORE TIPS: Students could work on these puzzles in groups or mixed ability pairs. To use again, laminate and use dry-wipe pens. Students could be encouraged to use French dictionaries or the Internet for words they do not know. They could also use them to check the meaning of the hidden sentence.

This speaking review activity reinforces vocabulary such as Guten Tag (Hello), Guten Abend (Good evening), Auf Wiedersehen (Goodbye) and Bis bald (See you soon). Students will practise asking and answering questions such as Wie geht’s? (How are you?), Wie heißt du? (What’s your name?), Wie alt bist du? (How old are you?), and Wo wohnst du? This is to better suit learners in US & Canada (Page 1 of the PDF), Australia and New Zealand (Page 2), and UK and Ireland (Page 3). All phrases used in the game feature on the vocabulary card so if you are not teaching in any of these countries, you will still be able to use the game. The vocabulary card can support younger, less experienced, or less able students. Brief instructions for students are printed on the board, together with fuller instructions on Page 5 of the PDF file. In turn, students roll a dice and move the appropriate number of spaces. They have to say aloud in German the word, phrase or question they land on, otherwise they return to the space they came from. You may wish to print the board in A3 for larger groups but it works well in A4 too. If printing in black and white use different coloured card to help keep them separate. Designed for oral practice in small groups, with a student reading out the English word or phrase on their card and others checking if they have the German translation, then reading this out - and so on until the loop is completed. JIGSAW PUZZLE A 16-piece triangle puzzle. Print, laminate, and cut. Students must arrange the puzzle pieces so that English vocabulary is placed beside the matching German translations on other pieces, forming a large triangle. ACTIVE CARD GAME A fun game to get students moving around the classroom, speaking German to each other. 18 identical pairs of cards form a complete 36-card set. Print and laminate the cards. Students circulate, asking and answering questions in German about name, age, and where they live, in whatever order they wish. Students’ responses should be based on the information on their card. Without looking at each other’s card, students try to find the player whose card matches their own. To make the small number of locations printed on the cards more relevant to students, I have included 3 versions: Canada / US, UK, Australia / NZ. All versions include some German locations. VOCABULARY SUPPORT CARD Use this to support certain students, groups or classes to play the games.

German Greetings and Introductions Presentation

Ideal for KS2 or early KS3 or equivalents, this lesson presentation covers German Greetings (Die Begrüßungen auf Deutsch) and Introductions Beginners Vocabulary. Introduce and review this unit with a 116-slide interactive PowerPoint (and additional PDF version). Includes greetings such as Guten Tag (Hello) and Guten Abend (Good evening) and farewells such as Auf Wiedersehen (Goodbye) and Bis bald (See you soon). Students will learn responses to questions such as Wie geht’s? (How are you?), Wie heißt du? (What’s your name?), Wie alt bist du? (How old are you?), and Wo wohnst du? (Where do you live?). Almost all text in this presentation is editable. Most slides feature answers that appear on the the click of a mouse. Recapping slides and role-play slides (with answer keys) are also included for plenty of oral practice and there’s a fun interactive Hexagons review game at the end. There’s enough here to plan multiple lessons around. In the Zip file, there is the original PowerPoint and a PDF version. While the PDF version does not retain the ability for teachers to reveal answers by clicking, it will still enable you introduce and review this topic if you do not have PowerPoint where you work. The Hexagons game is not compatible with PDF. Slides about where you live and where you come from focus on examples about Germany and other German-speaking countries, together with English-speaking countries such as US, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. This presentation is suitable for teaching younger or older students and adults as you have all the slides and examples you need to teach using either the informal ‘du’ or formal ‘Sie’ for ‘you’. It begins by using the informal ‘du’, which is ideal for younger students but at the end of the presentation (from slide 117), there are additional versions of relevant slides, the role-plays and the hexagon game, all using the formal ‘Sie’. You can either use the presentation all the way through, teaching both ‘du’ and ‘Sie’ or stop at slide 116 (especially if teaching younger students).
