Sentence Building (Jumbled) KS1

(1)
This popular hands-on Year 1 making sentences word ordering resource has been refreshed for Back to School 2020. Featuring new designs, it’s a full class set of 30 different reusable simple sentence building activity boards and now also comes with an additional worksheet version of all boards. Originally designed for Year 1 (P2), these sentence construction SPaG / Grammar activities could be used elsewhere in EYFS / Reception (P1) and Key Stage 1, depending on ability. Emergent writers love lifting the words off the boards to sort and unscramble them to find the hidden sentence. With an engaging picture clue and title on each board, this word sequencing Literacy Basic Skills resource suits a range of learning styles. After carefully reading the jumbled words, your early writers correctly rearrange them on the board before writing the sentence out on the lines provided, using a dry-wipe pen. Regular practice with scrambled sentences should help children begin to form sentences independently. This is a 66 page PDF document in a Zip file, together with an additional editable Word document of the word cards only. Each mixed-up sentence contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help identify the first word and to reinforce this important punctuation rule, and a full stop to pick up and place at the end. While constructing these sentences, children also learn about word order, parts of speech and that a sentence must make sense on its own. These sentences contain 6-8 words. A simpler set featuring scrambled 4-5 word sentences is available, as is a muddled up questions version. SAVE by purchasing all 3 Sentence Ordering sets in a bundle. Jumbled Sentences (4-5 words) Jumbled Questions Jumbled Sentences BUNDLE Print in colour on quality card to make it sturdy and laminate for repeated use. It’s ideal for using as a regular activity, with children working on a different one each session. Or choose the ones you make up if working with a smaller group. It could be used with SEN / ASN groups or others requiring support with writing. Words are printed in faint grey on each sheet in a random order. Once laminated, cut the word strips and stick each word on top of this faint type, using Blu Tack, Blu Tack ‘Glu Dots’ or equivalent. Each strip is in a different colour to help identify the board it is from. Train the children to replace the words to these starting positions and to wipe boards before putting them back. Good quality laminating pouches and easy-wipe pens will help with this! Pleae visit FullShelf Resources

French Colours (Les Couleurs)

(0)
KS2 / KS3 Beginners French Colours / Colors vocabulary PowerPoint lesson presentation, printable games, activities, a worksheet, crossword and word search. Introduction and revision of 11 French colour (or color) words. Originally designed for French beginners and near beginners in Primary (Year 4, 5 and 6) and Year 7 and equivalents. The colours are introduced using the questions ‘C’est quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour itself) and ‘C’est de quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour of objects / animals etc). The presentation suits learners who are new or fairly new to French but it also includes teaching points about female and plural forms of the colour adjectives, which you can use if appropriate, plus an introduction to the words for ‘light’ and ‘dark’ colours. With almost 50 slides, it also includes pronunciation tips, an interactive Kim’s game and a slide for a splat game, where children can ‘splat’ the colour that’s been said in French by the teacher. Children are also invited to show the teacher classroom objects of a particular colour so if they already know the name of some classroom objects this will help. Alternatively, they could learn some for this activity. An additional US spelling version of the presentation is included. The Four in a Row game works well in either A3 or A4 and can be used with the colour word cards. Use different colour paper or card when printing the word cards so that opponents can play with a different colour set. Students put their cards in a pile, taking the top one and choosing strategically which space to place it on (as long the colour on the space matches the word on the card!). Or laminate the board and students mark on their initial with a dry-wipe marker if they correctly say the colour in French. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. There are also 8 cards for games of bingo and/or noughts and crosses (tic tac toe) and a 20-card ‘I Have…Who Has?’ game / Loop game. This latter resource features some light and dark versions of the colours. The worksheet is included with and without a word bank for support. Full answer keys for the worksheet and puzzles. All 3 crosswords come with and without supporting word banks. The word search comes in 2 versions too, one for older or higher ability students where they can write the French words on the lines once they have found them in the word search and an easier version with the first three letters of the French words provided to start students off. Within the Zip file are two PDF files, one containing the worksheets and the other the puzzles. These resources can be used in any English-speaking country (UK and US date versions where relevant). The puzzles include: A simple crossword for days of the week (Les jours de la semaine) A simple crossword for months of the year (Les mois de l'annee) A larger crossword combining days of the week and months of the year A word search for days and months Solutions for all 4 puzzles As the first crossword is very small, two are included on one page. I would be very grateful for a review if you get a spare moment. Many thanks. Starting at the top illustration and working their way around the card in a spiral, children write the answer to each calculation in the box, creating a running total as they go. The final answer is printed at the end of the trail, beside the illustration in the middle of the card, so they can see if they have correctly completed it. If not, children can check their work to see where they have gone wrong. Thank you for your interest in my resources. I hope they work well in your classroom.
