This awesome project allows students to collaborate as a business team and identify a need in their community. Students will write a business plan that forces the students to think about profits, supply, demand, consumers, markets, advertising and more! The file starts with a brainstorm, and then student think through various components and finishes with their formal write-up of the their plan. Attached is a step by step Lesson Plan for teachers. Also there are three variations of each page to allow for seamless differentiation.
This really simple, clear, and well-organized read log template is a must for all classrooms! Students need to be reading daily at home, and this log is a great way for students to own their own tracking as well as offer data points for teachers to track home reading time. The log is differentiated to three levels to allow more and less books for more and less space.
This very visual worksheet can be used for a variety of applications. The top portion has students label the planets and the bottom section has them then describe those planets. This is an awesome activity to sue the first weeks of school to help build relationships, rapport, and understandings. This can be adapted for students to interview each other, for the teacher to interview the students, or for the students to fill out on their own. This 16x16 blank bar graph template is the perfect foundational worksheet that teachers can use to teach their students about the parts of a bar graph. Check out this really simple and useful brainstorming web template. The template is differentiated to three levels with changing lines for each of the three levels. Students will learn from this model to create their own. Easily adjusted for any and all brainstorming levels.
This is an extremely easily reproducible lab. Find a variety of items and objects to present to a group of students. Allow them to examine them and describe the physical properties they can identify. With that, then have the students create three categories to classify their items into. The students can then be challenged to create three new groups. This lab challenges students to group items and think about how scientists use properties to classify things.
This is an awesome exploratory learning project for students to learn about and experience color! Students will color two wheels, each with one slice colored in for each color of the rainbow. THIS WILL REQUIRE SOME SORT OF STRING. Thread the string through the two holes as sampled in the ANSWER KEY. Students will then hold each end of the string, and wind up the wheel in the center. When they release the winding, the wheel should spin like a top. Students will then take notes and answer the accompanying questions to describe what they are experiencing. This project will let students explore rainbows, white light, components of light and more!
Check out this awesome task card that allows students to work hands on through exploration to identify materials that are conductors and differentiate them with materials that are non-conductors.
You will need the basic materials for a circuit including a battery, wiring, a light bulb and then a variety of materials that student can test the conductivity with. The activity includes directions, a worksheet, and instructions.
This is meant to be independent work but can easily be used for small group, center work, or whole group instruction.
