Friendly starter on matching parents to remind students of inherting factors. Using celebrities to engage students, the lesson leads through pheno and genotypes and the differences. Animations of gametes seperating allows the learners to follow the step by step process of how genes are inherted. Worksheets provided (differentiated) to allow students to attempt to calculate probability of children gaining eye colour. Introduces heterozygous and homozygous genes in context. Plenary is exam style question and homework supplied if needed.

Includes resource (Diagram included to label, word bank and answer guide) Recaps on definition of cells, tissues and organs with visual aids. Explains the term ‘metabolism’ to students as the sum chemical processes occuring in the body. Student lead activity allows them to research and label the digestive system. Visual aids and animations help deliver information on the adaptations of the digestive systems (peristalsis, enzymes, microvilli and stomach muscles). Plenary is exam style questions.

Activities will help students understand how chain is dependent on each step. Worksheet enables students to deepen learning on herbivores, omnivores, apex predators etc. Lesson then leads into pyramid of numbers and pyramids of biomass with example questions for plenary.

Explores the ideas of unregulated cell division leading to tumour formation. Detailed presentation on factors that affect chances of cancer (smoking, ionizing radiation, ultraviolet and carcinogens).
