1066-1500- Medieval diseases and Black Death - Full interactive lesson

(0)
An excellent EAL friendly, well-resourced and developed History lesson which looks to introduce students to Medieval understanding of disease and possible treatments based on information from the time period. The main activity looks to reveal to students the difficultly in making a judgement on which types of diseases were treated with the cures at the time, based on down right ridiculous Medieval beliefs! Great as a follow up to the Black Death or as a precursor lesson. SMSC has been considered with reflection opportunities within the main activity, such as should doctors morally treat ALL patients regardless of social status? This lesson can also be used for a possible observation/interview or where students do not have their own books, as stand alone work booklet for students is provided. Included are: • power point • lesson worksheet • standalone lesson worksheet ( for students without a book)- or teacher interview • character cards- for the main activity • Challenge box extensions throughout • A3 doctors note sheet for the main activity • lesson plan Very well resourced - print and go ready! Why do we learn about World War Two? - The Holocaust

(0)
A very effective and straightforward lesson, looking to introduce students to why we learn about World War Two in schools, The Holocaust. The lesson should be aimed as an introductory starter to the study of World War Two, and really is a reflective opportunity for students to become engaged with the topic. The main task asks students to reflect on a scene from Band of Brothers, where American soldiers discover a concentration camp during the time period. Then follows a literacy activity. A very simple introduction, could be used as a filler lesson. Warning- Clip from Band of Brothers contains distressing images.
