Powerpoint that explains what a ‘cover’ is, and how artists can adapt existing songs to portray their own style and give tribute to their influences. 1-2 lessons worth of content Suitable for music students aged 12-16 Purposed to prepare music students for performing their own cover song, in which they have adapted the original to suit their own style. Video examples of different covers are given. Exercises included that ask students to analyse the difference between the original and the cover. This will assist them in understanding the different ways that the musical features of a song can be altered in order to change its style.
