A set of task cards for pairs balances and routines and an A4 differentiated resource card (with around 50 balances) students can use to copy the paired balances from. Easiest to hardest: Green, Yellow, Red, Purple I would only suggest purple and red to those that are really competent gymnasts and have done some sports acro before - otherwise support would be required. A group of resource and task cards for individual gymnastics balances that students can use to select and accurately replicate balances for their routines. Useful in a lesson on balance or routines and great for independent work. Christmas maths - tessellations. Christmas themed tessellation activity for students to complete in class or for homework. A great consolidation activity that can engage students at Christmas. This could more than a whole lesson if you get the students to tessellate a design and then also colour it (great for displays!). Includes: Christmas tree (moderately easy) Bauble (medium) Candy cane (easy) Christmas stocking with curved edges (hard) Geometric christmas stocking (easy) Elf (Hard) Santas head (medium) present (easy) For each shape there is the following types of sheets: An A4 portrait sheet with small squares and a small shape to start students off An A4 portrait sheet with big squares and a big shape to start students off A small template which is approx 1/8 of A4 A big template which are on their own A4 page Examples of how to tessellate the shape/pre-made colouring pages for students that are really struggling to tessellate the shape correctly. 4 Stations/task cards for individual gymnastics balances. Useful in a lesson on balance or routines and great for independent work.There is a standing balances station, a kneeling and sitting balances station, a inverted balances station and a support balances station. There are enough balances on each station card to cater to complete beginners and for experienced gymnasts. Colour and black and white versions included (to save on ink). Recommendations for use: Set up 4 different stations around the room and give students set times on each station then move them on (think circuit) Split the group into 4 and give each group a station card - swap them over as needed Place the balances in a central position and get students to pick on balance from each station that they should link together into a short sequence Give to a non doer for them to see if their peers are accurately replicating the balances Need other gymnastics balances? This Christmas maths codebreaker uses skills learnt in multiplying 4 digits by 2 digits, Rounding to decimal places, rounding to significant figures and simplifying fractions to reveal Christmas jokes. Make your students feel like a spy trying to crack a code in a fun and novel way for students to practise rounding, multiplying and simplifying fractions. UPDATED 16/12/19 - fixed the code box on rounding to decimal places. It was showing the incorrect on on the question sheet. Each skill has a different sheet, so there are 4 total worksheets all with awesome Christmas clip art and answers included. The skills included here are normally taught/covered in lower KS3 but could be used for any year group as a fun consolidation. Students need to answer the questions and find each corresponding letters in order to reveal a christmas joke. Great starter for lessons or to give to early finishers. Easiest to hardest: Green, Yellow, Red , Purple. There is at least one balance for groups of 5, 6, 7, and 8. I would only suggest purple to those that are really competent gymnasts and have done some sports acro before - otherwise lots of support would be required. I also would suggest support for those attempting red if they do not have a gymnastics background. Differentiated worksheets on Enlargements for students to complete in class. Skills include positive enlargements, negative enlargements and fractional enlargements all colour coded for difficulty. This is most suitable for Challenging KS3 students and Higher Tier GCSE. I also have a one suitable for KS3 and Foundation tier which only includes positive and fractional scale factors (The questions are different on each version so if you buy both products there are no duplicates). In this product 4 levels of difficulty have been included: Blue (easy) -Enlarge an object by an integer scale factor from a centre of enlargement Gold (medium) -Enlarge an object by a fractional scale factor from a centre of enlargement. Red (hard) -Enlarge and object by a negative scale factor from a centre of enlargement Purple (challenging) Describe fully an enlargement; work out a scale factor and centre of enlargement. This Congruent shapes worksheet and notes page set are ideal for KS3 and GCSE students. Skills covered are: identifying a pair of congruent shapes on a square grid that are the same orientation and identifying a set of congruent shapes on a square grid that have been rotated, reflected or both. There are 3 difficulty levels, Blue (easy), Gold (medium) and Red (hard). Blue (2 x pages) covers finding congruent shapes that are the same orientation. The shapes are all different looking. Gold (2 x pages) covers finding congruent shapes that have been rotated OR reflected. Red (2 x pages) covers finding congruent shapes that have been rotated and/or reflected. The shapes are all quite similar looking. Fantastic to use in lessons where you have a lot of different stages of learning. Also great to give to students for homework and they could pick the difficulty they wanted to do! The notes page is good for students to keep in their books to use as a help guide. Included is a completely filled in version and a version that Students fill in the key points themselves. Full solutions included in the same format as the questions to make it easier to mark! Skills covered include – Identify and using angle, side and symmetry properties of simple quadrilaterals and triangles. Identifying congruent shapes. This lesson was specially made to cover the objectives of the Pearson textbook section 6.1 (apart from angles in quadrilaterals- this is a separate lesson) Time saving resource for busy teachers! Skils covered are rotating a shape around a given point on a square grid, rotating a shape about a set of coordinates and describing the rotation. Time saving resource for busy teachers!
