I am an enthusiastic and experienced science teacher and tutor who is a strong believer in having organised, well-designed resources to support every lesson. When I started teaching from the Activate SOW I found myself spending too much time making resources. I have, therefore, now designed PowerPoint presentations and supporting materials to support the Activate SOW for Biology, Chemistry and Physics and will eventually upload all materials to this shop.

Everything you need for those end-of term Christmas lessons:- three quizzes - one aimed at Year 8 Science, one covering new science discovered during 2017, and one unashamedly just about Santa Claus! Also included in this bundle is a chemistry activity for consolidating student understanding of the number of protons in different elements, not to mention a number of picture templates. Although titled 'Maths templates' they could be amended to cover different ideas in science. A bargain bundle!

All pupils should be able to describe how drag forces and friction arise; most pupils should also be able to plan, and carry out, an experiment to investigate friction (choosing suitable equipment); whilst some pupils should, in addition, be able to explain why drag forces and friction arise. A printed version of the interactive keyword wordsearch is also included. There is an embedded video clip showing a mexican wave - students love watching this! Please check out the notes on enabling this video clip to run before using the PowerPoint - these are shown on slide 3 (which is hidden in presentation mode). This resource is designed for pupils aiming for developing and secure outcomes. All pupils should be able to state some features of waves; most pupils should also be able to describe the different types of waves and their features; whilst some pupils should, in addition, be able to describe what happens when waves superpose. Included are instructions for a Forces Circus (consisting of 4 work-stations: one with a toy car and ramp; one with a pendulum; one with a mass suspended from a spring; and one with a bowl of water and a Plasticine ‘boat’). A student practical worksheet as well as additional worksheets (please see end-note) are included in this resource. If preferred, the included Forces Circus instructions could easily be replaced with the Activate Forces Circus. This resource is designed for pupils aiming for developing and secure outcomes. All pupils should be able to identify balanced and unbalanced forces; most pupils should also be able to define equilibrium; whilst some pupils should, in addition, be able to describe the difference between balanced and unbalanced forces. Here it is - the 2019 Science Quiz - the ideal resource for one of your end-of-term lessons! I have aimed this at KS4 students, with 3 short rounds of questions on science curriculum work and a longer 4th round on scientific discoveries in 2019. • There are 4 rounds altogether. • The first 3 rounds have 4 questions each. Answers are given at the end of each round. • The last round is made up of 11 questions about discoveries made in 2019. This is followed by a challenge activity. Students work in 11 groups to research one of the discoveries (background information is included in Word files which should be printed out for them). One person from each group (the Reporter) then feeds back to the class. • I hope you find this useful and enjoyable!

This resource includes material for pupils aiming for developing, secure and extending outcomes and can easily be adapted for individual classes. All pupils should be able to name some parts of the ear; most pupils should also be able to describe how the ear works and explain some risks of loud music; whilst some pupils should, in addition, be able to compare and contrast the ear and the microphone. A short research task is included so pupils will need access to ipads or laptops for a short period during the lesson. All pupils should be able match some components of cells to their functions; most pupils should be able to describe the similarities and differences between plant and animal cells; whilst some pupils should be able to explain the functions of the components of a cell by linking them to life processes.
