Coordinates Activities: Differentiated

As I’ve said before, I teach in a ‘football CRAZY’ class, who will engage with almost anything if it’s related to football. With that in mind, I have created this activity to use when teaching your children about coordinates. INCLUDED: *1 higher ability activity. Children will need to identify the coordinates in which Ronaldo passes the ball. The coordinates range between positive and negative numbers for that extra challenge. *I lower ability activity: Children will need to identify the coordinates in which Ronaldo passes the ball. The coordinates are within positive numbers. *Answer sheets for both activities. This is NOT a complete lesson package, it is simply the activity in which you can use alongside your own lesson to check children’s understanding of the topic. Please leave a review to let me know how you and your class got on with this resource. :)

Multiplication: Timed Tests Multiplication Tests are a great way for students to show progress with math fact fluency. Each multiplication test will focus on a specific number or a review of a set of numbers. *There are 24 problems on each page. The goal is to improve speed and accuracy. Each page has a place to record the time and score for the test. There is a test for: x2 x3 x4 x5 x6 x7 x8 x9 x10 x11 x12 Mixed I have also included a challenge section at the bottom to extend their learning even further.

World Cup 2018- distance between the stadiums.

A mathematical activity to engage children with the upcoming world cup in Russia. Lesson Plan included. I have included a map of Russia with the football stadiums. Children must measure the distance between a letter and a stadium. Then because 1cm=35 minutes, they must then calculate how long it would take to get to said stadium. For example: How long will it take A to get to Kazan stadium? Using your ruler, measure the distance from A to Krazan stadium. If it’s 7.6 cm- round to the nearest whole number which is 8cm. 1cm = 35 minutes so 35 x 8 = 280 minutes =4 hours 40 minutes Children must then fill in a table with their findings.

A mathematical activity to engage children with converting units of measure (Christmas Theme). I have included a map of the world with different parts labelled for children to measure the distances between. Children must measure the distance between 2 different parts of the world. Then because 1cm=35 minutes, they must then calculate how long it would take to get to said part. For example: How long will it take Santa to get from house A to house B? Using your ruler, measure the distance from A to B. If it’s 7.6 cm- round to the nearest whole number which is 8cm. 1cm = 35 minutes so 35 x 8 = 280 minutes =4 hours 40 minutes Fill in the table below of your findings. This example has been done for you. Children must then fill in a table with their findings. Included also is two different design opportunities. Children can design their own Christmas jumper and Christmas cookies.

Enjoy some end of term activities by engaging the children with the World Cup 2022. The country of Qatar is getting ready for 2022, so why shouldn’t we? A mathematical activity to engage children with converting units of measure (World Cup Theme). Lesson Plan included. Familiarise the children with the layout of the stadiums. Children must measure the distance between a letter and a stadium. Then because 1cm=35 minutes, they must then calculate how long it would take to get to said stadium. For example: How long will it take A to get to Lusail stadium? Using your ruler, measure the distance from A to Lusail stadium. If it’s 7.6 cm- round to the nearest whole number which is 8cm. 1cm = 35 minutes so 35 x 8 = 280 minutes =4 hours 40 minutes Children must then fill in a table with their findings. A fun activity for the whole class. Please let me know what you and your class thought of this resource- I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. I have included a map of Qatar with the football stadiums.

Year 4 Maths Objectives- Lesson Starters

12 DAYS WORTH OF MATHS STARTERS- DIFFERENTIATED. I created this powerpoint to keep their maths skills quick. Each day, regardless of the maths topic, we will engage with one of these maths starters prior to the lesson. I found that children were not retaining the maths we had done throughout the year, so this was a quick, easy way to keep our skills fresh and quick. They’re differentiated into three groups and we call it the chilli challenge!! 1 Chilli- Low Ability 2 Chilli- Middle Ability 3 Chilli- High Ability If these are a hit, I will continue to make and upload these. Please let me know if they were helpful.
