Chapter 1 of the BFG with comprehension questions. My class love the BFG so I decided to create a comprehension on each chapter. Looks at deducing, inferring and spotting similes.

Week 2 This lesson begins by recapping what was learned in lesson 1 (also uploaded). This lesson is based on why the Vikings had such a bad reputation. Children will learn why people thought that the Vikings were only bad, and also look at sources of information that say this. The package includes a lesson plan, activity resource and a presentation.

A weeks lesson plan introducing children to non-chronological reports. Speaking and Listening is incorporated into these lessons also by allowing children to pretend they are news reporters. Children will be taught how to 'hook' their readers in and write in factual sentences.

3 weeks of Art planning based on the Rainforest and the paintings of Henri Rousseau. Children are taught to appreciate his art as well as create their own version of 'Surprise'.

This game involves asking the children to roll a dice and read the sound that their counter lands on. When they read the sound, they must think of a word that this sound is in. I played it in mixed ability pairs, the low ability children just had to try and read the sound. It was a lot of fun and they loved it. It contains diagraphs, triagraphs, split diiagraphs and single sound letters for a thorough revision.

An introduction into the Vikings. It’s very exciting lesson as it involves role-play and physical moving around the classroom to “spy” on the Vikings. My class got a lot out of it.

Short multiplication game for year 3/4. This resource has differentiated games for high, middle and low ability. The game is explained on the sheet and all you will need is a dice between each pair.

The Heliocentric Model- this lesson teaches children about another model of the Solar System in which was believed by another Ancient Scientist. This lesson requires children to make a jigsaw of the model and figure out which planets have been included/left out. There is also an aspect of role play, for children to act as the planets rotating around the sun. Included: *A powerpoint presentation *A jigsaw activity where children re-make the heliocentric model. *A detailed lesson plan. *True and false statements to sort. This is a weeks worth of planning, resources and presentations based on imaginary settings. Children will be creating their own imaginary world in which they will need to know inside out to write about. To make it more interesting, children will need to pretend that they are Horrid Henry entering their own imaginary land. I taught these lessons this week and they worked very well. Children loved creating their own worlds in which they could bring Horrid Henry into it. There is planning stages to these lessons also which allow children time to edit their worlds for the ‘big write’ at the end of the week. In this topic, children will need to know two different models of the solar system: The geocentric model and the heliocentric model. Included: *A detailed lesson plan. *An informative Power Point presentation to be used alongside the lesson. *A prior and post lesson assessment to check for understanding. *Role play labels to ensure children understand the positioning of the planets in this model. *Preview of this product to inform you how I use some of these resources. A fun lesson which allows children to practically lay out the distance from each planet to the sun by using toilet paper. It is a whole class activity, and it allows children to see what each distance looks like in a creative way. Learning from the previous lesson is reinforced also.

This is a busy opening lesson on Earth, Moon and Sun topic. It requires the sorting of the scientific vocabulary as well as an interesting insight into the topic. This resource includes a presentation, plan and differentiated activity.

These playscripts allow children to create their own play while learning the features of the play-script also. I have attached fairy tales that are turned into playscripts. The features that they will learn how to use are: *Cast list * Scene Headings * Character name and : * Stage Directions The first lesson allows children to create their own list of the features of a playscript by finding them themselves. This exploratory, paired learning works best when it comes to the end product at the end of the week. Children are encouraged to choose a fairytale that they already know to alter slightly, to make the actual story part easier. There is a SPAG lesson included also on adverbs. This will help children to use them for the stage directions also.

Resources, plan, presentation and SPAG. This week of lessons really helped bring on the children's descriptive writing. The video clips help them to imagine things clearer and bring great life to their writing. I found it really successful. It focuses on getting the children to use their sense to imagine what a scene looks like. SPAG lesson is on prepositions and this presentation was accumulated from TES website also.
