Complete lesson based on the Simple Inheritance topic of the AQA Biology/Trilogy new specification GCSE course, also known as B13.7 from the Nelson Thornes text books. This lesson contains: Starter BoB’s big five. A recap over the last few lessons in 5 questions that they complete in the back of their books (Hence BoB). There are then the answers on the next slides for students to self or peer mark. This is to encourage memory retention over a series of lessons and has had a great impact in my classroom. Main Introduction to the keywords and then guided through some genetic crosses. Emphasis given to the correct working out that needs to be written down in order to gain ALL the marks. Students are then expected to complete any of the next tasks. If you have iPads in the classroom then I would print out the QR code scanner (See note at bottom) sheet and students can choose the PDFs to load (and save paper) and either complete on the iPads, or in their books. Answers are provided for all three activities. Activity 1 - Harry Potter genetics. Students use information from Harry Potter to get used to the punnet square approach to these tasks. Activity 2 - Moving on from Harry Potter, students have to do more work. There is a lot of repetition here so I would advise students to move on when happy. Answers are again provided. Activity 3 - Exam questions, a series of exam questions to challenge the students, with mark scheme. Plenary Students complete an EBI and WWW for the lesson Bonus The final slide contains an optional task that can be a cover lesson, or just a less teacher focused lesson. NOTE ABOUT QR CODE SHEET - The QR codes on there will NOT work, you will need to upload the PDFs to a location on your schools network and then use a QR code generator website to generate the QR codes.

Practical looking into the effects of sweating on the body.

Students are split into groups of 3. Each has a clue sheet and can only read their clues out loud. Between them they have to be able to put the facts into the correct order by using the clues Requires teamwork! Answers included

Using ramps and cars the students plan their investigation using the planning sheet, and then carry out the investigation. This can all be done in one lesson. I then set them the task of writing up the investigation (using the level ladder) as homework, but could be done in a subsequent lesson

This booklet contains one Level 2 and one Level 3 question per topic in C1. The front cover allows the students or the teacher to track their common mistakes. The booklet also contains a set of relevant 6 mark questions at the back, including a scaffolded writing sheet. Also attached is the raw word document which contains the answers to the questions

DNA Extraction lesson and practical. Lesson covers DNA and genetic materials with a thought provoking starter on the length of DNA in a cell. A simple variation of the lesson could be to extract DNA from one fruit, but this lesson looks at comparing different fruits and the challenges faced with that. Easy to follow worksheet

Lesson introducing F=ma, gets students thinking about how the three elements link together before going through several worked examples. Then move on to F=ma worksheet (answers included), and then onto linking F=ma with resultant forces (including answers). There are stretch and challenge questions on each activity slide (AS Level) and an AS Level worksheet included
