Understanding ASD (autism) as a Learning Difference Science – Theory - Practice Unpick challenging behaviours Understand why a child presents in a certain way and how they are affected by their particular needs This 75 slide resource is a thorough look at what autism is as well as practical strategies in helping support autistic children and make schools communication freiendly schools. You can divide this up into several CPD sessions or edit/ slim down for one. As the slides progress, there are some practical activities staff can do.

Works for any subject. Have 'stations' around the room. Fold the 'title' of revision activity in half so each station is labelled. Then each handout gives different guidance on how to complete that particular revision activity. All you need for resources is A3 for the mind maps, colours and revision cards. It gives detailed advice on how to complete such activities as active reading (i.e. not just passivly reading or copying notes).

This provides scaffolding for students writing witness accounts of incidents around the school or for victim & perpetrator. It helps us know clearly where incidents took place, who witnessed it and includes a reflection part for a student to learn from the incident.

Four sessions on understanding dyslexia which you can use with your tutees. This helps promote an inclusive school with children understanding about learning differences.

Launching your Christmas appeal? This assembly will get students thinking about how money and presents will not make us truly happy at Christmas. It looks at how much we spend in the UK and how a little bit of money can go such a long way in Africa. That aside, we have to show love at Christmas.

This is a one of a series of assemblies where someone inspirational is looked at. This looks at Roger Bannister’s One Minute Mile and the qualities he had to achieve this. It is then related to the student’s lives. Includes full presenter notes

This assembly firstly looks at world records set at Christmas. Then staff or students have to take part in a world record attempt themselves (you will need chocolate brussel sprouts). It then links into a modern look at the Nativity Story as it would appear in today's world.

It explores the history of questioning (Socrates etc) and then looks at levels of questions and how our classroom should be an environment where we learn knowledge, question information and listen to and comment on each other's thoughts.
