A unit of work based around the story of What the Ladybird Heard. EYFS objectives 40-60m and ELGs referred to. 6 lessons for a short term. :-)

My reception class had to do a class assembly in line with our theme - pirates and mermaids. I wrote a script all about a pirate treasure hunt and what 'treasure' really is - we should treasure friendship more than jewels and gold. 7 pirates go on a quest to find a treasure chest which happens to be in Ibiza! In Ibiza, they meet some Spanish pirates who have the Jolly Rodger flag on their ship. The pirates all work together to look for the treasure and come across some sea creatures and mermaids. The mermaids offer the pirates a treasure full of gold or something special that would bring them all together as friends. The pirates choose the special chest which has our class pet inside! A lot of hard work went into this assembly script and presentation and I hope that someone else can enjoy it! This pack contains: * the full script and costume ideas * a PowerPoint presentation with animation and music - all set up to play. Faces of the children can be added to animated pirate bandanas and mermaid tails (as seen in cover image) * music to run along side (although this music is already loaded onto the PowerPoint) * Letters home to parents to request costumes and attendance to the show

I have made a little year book for my reception class for one of their end of year gifts. I have filled it with photos from throughout the year and some selfies from the beginning and end of the year. There is a 'what my teachers first thought of me' page and a 'what my teachers think of me now'. There are also a few more pages added about what group they were in and what their favourite moment in Early Years was. On the first page I have put a picture of our class pet! (We call our reception class Early Years! :-))

I used this newspaper report and worksheets when focussing on newspaper reports in literacy. Our theme was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Our Y1 theme was based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We used our History sessions to study life as a Victorian worker and compared Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory with a Victorian factory. I used this Bean Plant Diary with my Y1 class when focussing on these objectives in science: - I communicate my findings by talking about my work and through drawings and charts. - I use my knowledge to recognize, identify and describe a range of common plants, animals and natural events. - I name and describe external parts or features of plants, humans and other animals, such as size of leaf or coat colour.

I used these worksheets when teaching measurement in Y1. The worksheets cover the use of mathematical language to do with measurement, what equipment should be used when measuring different things and measuring lengths, heights, capacity, volume, weight and mass. Our theme was 'sea side', so we finished the unit with a bag of fish and chips which we measured before eating! :-)

I have used this resource in Y1 as a homework activity or a challenge. The children are given 'clues' and have to work out what the 2D shape is.
