The World War 2 Simulation and Lesson Plan, now with a web-based online platform, is designed to stimulate a high school or middle school student’s interest in this historic event. Like all Mr. Harms’s programs, it’s designed by a teacher for teachers. Hundreds of teachers already use this program every year to actively engage students in a way that text books and videos can’t. Each student takes on roles and in the process can change events while learning about the character or country they represent. They are responsible for learning things on their own, while also actively participating in small group activities. The “magic” involved in this World War 2 Lesson Plan is that students become emotionally involved with their countries. Students become competitive about achieving their objectives. This World War 2 Simulation is a collection of Microsoft Word and Excel Documents. The documents are organized in binders or in a computer lab/1:1 set-up electronically for students and used in combination with the War Map on your projector to bring World War Two to life in your classroom! Mr. Harms produces interactive history lesson plans for students. For any teacher planning a unit on World War 1, this lesson plan is a great way to bring history to life for them. The original program was developed and tested over years of use and is used by nearly 200 high school teachers throughout North America. This Elementary WWI Simulation Lesson Plans were adapted by Stephen Henderson, Elementary teacher in Pella Iowa, from our more advanced World War One Simulation for High School and Middle School. The adapted version of the WW1 Simulation offers upper elementary teachers the opportunity to bring World War One to life by placing history in the hands of the students. With modified instructions and simplified terminology, the adapted version gives elementary students the opportunity to engage this great conflict in new and challenging ways. The Elementary WWI Lesson Plan Simulation also offers questions that cover broader concepts in order for elementary students to begin to understand the level of influence this conflict had on a global scale. This WW1 simulation will help get students interested and excited about learning. Instead of simply recreating what happened in the Great War, students can alter the course of history through the decisions they make. This program can be customized to any class size and become a unit that future students will look forward to. Teaching a unit on the Civil War for high school students can be difficult. Other than black and white photographs and textbooks, there is no way to bring the experience of a country divided alive for students. With this Civil War Simulation, however, you can get them caught up in the conflict. Easy to set up, this lesson plan can be customized to any size classrooms. Students will become caught up as they face the same questions that politicians of the time faced. They’ll represent specific states and in the process work in small groups with other states from their side of the conflict. In this Civil War Lesson Plan, students begin by learning about the presidential election of 1860. Guided by their objectives, students engage in strategy, and problem solving. The “magic” behind this activity is that students become emotionally involved with their states and competitive about achieving their objectives. This Civil War Simulation Game is a collection of Microsoft Word and Excel documents. The documents are organized in binders or in a computer lab/1:1 set-up electronically for students and used in combination with the Civil War Map on your projector to bring this Civil War Unit to life in your classroom! Mr. Harms produces interactive history lesson plans for high school and middle school students. Developed and honed over 2 decades of use, the Civil War Simulation is used by classrooms throughout North America. Check out our testimonials and you’ll hear how teachers have come to rely on our lesson plans for their classrooms. The Civil War Lesson Plans are a unit students will look forward to and which often results in students doing work outside of their classroom to be fully prepared for the conflict. It’s a unit that future classes will be looking forward to participating in, because of what they’ve heard from current students. It will be one of the best investments you as a teacher can make. CREATE AN ENGAGING CLASS ROOM WITH THE TRENCH WARFARE GAME Objective: This interactive trench warfare game engages students in a hands on way, to understand the phrases: “Trench Warfare” and “No Man’s Land”. These may seem like boring vocabulary words to most students, but they'll mean something more to your students, as they face the daunting task of trying to brake the stalemate on the Western Front. This simulation takes place in 1916 on the Western Front when British and French Forces faced the German army in France and Belgium. Students will Problem Solve and Develop Strategy as how to break through each others lines. In the end, they'll realize that the Western Front punished the side on the offensive. Sending waves of men into blistering machine gun fire was pure insanity. Sequence Example: Artillery Attack: The Allies target a German zone, Sedan French Forces from the Marne Enter No Man’s Land #7 and are hit with heavy machine gun fire. The remaining French forces move into Sedan for the battle- casualties are taken off the map. Movement: The Allies move forces not used in battle. Objectives Allow students to feel the frustration and futility of offensives on the Western Front. Show students why the Western Front became a “stalemate”.
