Use as a starter/through the door activity. Helps students to track progress during the lesson.

This bundle is suitable for all achievement groups at KS4. It focuses primarily on the key terminology and helps aid rapid recall as the same terms and definitions are used throughout. I use these throughout the teaching of the scheme as students are presented with the same information, but in different contexts. Learning Intentions 1 - Recall the factors affecting rate of chemical reaction 2 - Understand the difference between collision theory and activation energy 3 - Understand how to calculate the mean rate of a reaction and surface area:volume ratio. Suitable for Black and White Printing Additional Resources: None Running Time: 30 minutes The students enjoy this activity as I allow them to work in pairs and decide on which 4 out of the 8 tasks they would like to do. This gives students sense of ownership of the task and encourages engagement. The activity is based on the Randy Bamboo’s “Big Eye” foldable with the large oval sections each containing a piece of text or instructions on calculations. The paper is then folded in half long-ways as shown above. There is a task or question corresponding to each number. (Commercial License has been purchased from Randy Bamboo). I usually run this activity in pairs after a short introduction of the topic. AQA users, I usually use this before doing the required practical to give them a broad understanding of some of ideas behind the RP. A literacy support package for KS3 Solutions.

This resource is made up of "luggage tag" reminders for students on how to write conclusions, evaluations and risk assessments. A separate file is included for teachers to use as marking hacks during feedback. Great time saver. Can also be used to support those struggling with literacy.

Suitable for KS3 and KS4 Using photographs of models of diffusion students use their knowledge of the particle model to evaluate. The SEN activity guides students through in more detail and has only one model to evaluate.

Fully differentiated lesson on Atoms and Isotopes. Includes lesson plan, keywords, workbook and starter sheet. This lesson was judged Good with Outstanding features in a 2013 lesson observation and I've used it ever since. The A grade activity looks at the link between alchemy and isotopes and challenges students to apply their knowledge in an interesting and unusual scenario.

Apologies, this is a crude jigsaw but it works very well as an activity with SEN or low ability students. It is a 2 page jigsaw puzzle based upon a diagram of the Earth and atmosphere. Very easy to put together, but forces students to interact with the diagram. To extend you could ask students to write a short paragraph to explain.

This is a lesson plan and associated worksheets suitable for foundation level students. For those unfamiliar with the graphic organiser, once students have filled in their sections they need to use their notes to compile a piece of text. YOU WILL NEED ACCESS TO OXBOX CHEMISTRY BOOKS.
