Some example questions to practice technique and timing with the pre-released materials

First lesson in the settlement topic on the curriculum. What do we NEED to have when building somewhere to live? What do we WANT? How would we LIKE to live?

This is a fun activity to introduce ideologies to second year students; getting them to think about their own values and the theory behind ideologies and their own world views. It could allow them to later sympathise when learning about political ideologies.

A modelling activity for small groups to do, which they can be assessed on as an alternative or addition to written tests. Build a river system with labels on all features, landforms and processes. Present to the class and answer a question from the teacher.

I made this fun lesson for students arriving back to school into our new building. Designed to get them exploring the new building WITHOUT sticking anything on newly painted walls and doors [to appease the powers that be] but could easily be adapted with QR codes for iPad development too.

I originally designed this for the ‘weaker’ students unable to understand the idea of criticisms and researching critics’ ideas about different ideologies. A very short over-view of the nature of this side to politics; no key thinkers of quotes listed, but intended to be used as a bit of a stepping stone document.

This is a worksheet put together to fill in gaps left by textbooks at the time regarding the ideological standpoints on education in Britain. Not at all comprehensive, but a decent guide to add to students' individual research.

To be used when showing The Day After Tomorrow in class. I usually get mine to use their answers to build a short essay under the title: 'If the planet is warming, what are the climatic possibilities for the future of the Northern hemisphere?'

Using Google sheets, I have created a recall table for each topic. It is RAG themed, and covers the optionals we have chosen but is easy to edit, print and share with students. All they need to do is fill a box with colour when they have tested their recall ability on a section (done some revision) that corresponds with their confidence. Ideally, over time they will see an easy visual presentation of their progress.

Dominoes starter: Cut the cards in half and give to small groups or pairs in envelopes. Each sentence ENDING with an ellipsis should match a sentence STARTING with an ellipsis. Paired-task: Give each student a copy of the cards already cut up. They need to match them up, in discussion with a partner before the whole class reveal the correct answers and glue into books.
