This is a presentation designed to encourage GCSE pupils to use a variety of complex structures in their written and spoken controlled assessments. The worksheet asks them to build up lists of different kinds of grammatical structures (there is a honeycomb of different examples to start with) before embarking on their own creations. From Mira 2 Module 2 Chapter 1, this PowerPoint presents vocabulary for places in a town and revisits the verb ir. The near future is introduced with activities and there is an exercise on the PowerPoint as well as a reinforcement worksheet.

This is a little activity i give to my class after we have practised the present tense of regular er verbs. I give them the list of verbs and encourage them to create their story based around the verbs rather than the other way round. If you check their French before they draw the pictures they can provide the basis of a very colourful display.

I use these to teach regular present tense verb patterns to beginners, but the flowers can be used for any tense that is made of a stem and ending. I have displays of flowers in all of the language classrooms. You can reduce the size of the flowers and print multiple copies on a page. Pupils can then make a collage to represent all of the verb groups or tenses they know.

Some practice translation exercises based on the AQA A2 French Nelson Thornes book.

I always use this song to teach the future tense as it really helps students with the pronunciation of the tense. The infinitive verbs are given and students have to identify the correct form of the future tense after hearing the song.

Presentation begins with review of 'habiter' and vocabulary for houses and regions. Reviews prepositions used to mean 'in'. Worksheet provides opportunity to write full sentences based on the presentation and there is a small (but difficult) gapfill exercise on prepositions. Also includes introduction to rooms of house.

I have these printed A3 size and laminated and the students can refer to them when speaking in spontaneous debates in class. They have been very positive about them and far from slowing the pace, it enables them to keep talking!

Present and perfect tense of reflexive verbs. Two worksheets with gaps to fill in the correct part of the verb. One refers to normal routine and the other refers to a specific day in the past.

This is just a reference sheet which I supply to my year 7 after having introduced -er verbs. It is visually more interesting than most things I found on the net. It also includes my verb flower (an idea I pinched from someone else years ago!). I have large coloured verb flowers stuck on the wall of my classroom.
