Richard Osman’s House of Games - Psychology Revision Version! Students really enjoy this! PowerPoint has been made to fit with the Richard Osman’s house of games themes, sound effects added etc. This relates to all topics (approaches, attachment, memory, social influence, psychopathology, research methods, biopsychology, I&D, schizophrenia, relationships & forensics) Rounds included are: ‘Rhyme Time’ - two clues that rhyme are given, students buzz in when then know. ‘I’m terrible at dating’ - studies are given and students state the year. (I do this with mini-white-boards but could be done with buzzer’s too) ‘I am not a Robot’ - students are given a picture of something and asked to come to the board to indicate where they think a target it (e.g. where the pineal gland is on a whole brain image) ‘Answer Smash’ - Famous in the show - two clues given, students must smash the answers together to give a ridiculous answer! ‘Elephant in the Room’ - a banned word is given so that when students buzz in to answer, they can’t use part of a word. ‘Totes Emoji’ - Emoji’s used to describe researchers/studies and students to buzz in with answers. Lesson designed for an hour. Students broken down into teams. Please leave feedback on what you think :)

Lesson to assist students with essay writing. The topic is on psychopathology (Discuss cognitive treatments for depression), but can be used for revision too. Starter provided Assess confidence of essay writing. Students to complete a knowledge quiz to recap AO1, then read a poor example of an answer to review. They look at an example of how this is improved before having a go at improving a paragraph themselves. Finally, an AO1 paragraph is written for them, they need to complete the AO3 paragraphs using the structure learnt throughout the lesson. Re-assess confidence at the end of the lesson. This has really improved my students’ essays. Hope you find use in this too :) Please do leave a rating.
