At the present time I am Head of Science at an independent Prep School. Teaching KS3 Science so the majority of resources are KS3. I teach several year groups in mixed ability sets so most of my resource included differentiated resources to enable all students to engage whatever their ability level. In previous job taught AQA Triple Science so a selection of resources for teaching these concepts also can be found here.

This lesson is part of a series I have put together for my students to learn about Human Reproduction remotely. This lesson covers changes that happen in the emotions during puberty. I have videoed myself talking through the slideshow I would usually use for this lesson in school. This resource includes everything you need to teach this lesson. Included: 1 video of me explaining concepts the slideshow I was talking through Agony Aunt Puberty questions worksheet Plenary - check your understanding worksheet I also created a Padlet for them to add questions to totally anonymously - bit of a virtual problem box - where I then answered their questions or worries about puberty. (Also allows you flexibility of deleting comments that are inappropriate). I will adding the following lessons in this topic as I teach them. Any feedback on ways to improve would be much appreciated.

MRS GREN active learning lesson - differentiated

(37)
I teach this lesson after an introduction to animal/plant and specialised cells. I found that some classes always struggled with MRS GREN so I came up with a set of different activities to help them work out the 7 processes themselves. I laminated the instruction cards and placed them round lab with the various bits of equipment. Each student then was given one of the differentiated practical ws (SQUID = high, CRAB = mid, and STARFISH = low). The students then went round the room and completed each activity and writing the relevant word on their ws. We then went through answers & ppt in class to get a correct list of MRS GREN. Students then got into their ability groups and used MRS GREN to work out if various objects were living or not - group task sheet. This worked extremely well and I've found that students have a much better grasp and retention of this topic after this active lesson compared to me just talking.

Intro to Food Groups and differentiated worksheets

(1)
This is adapted ppt I found on TES (thank you) - now includes loads of assessment opportunities as you go through - I was observed during this lesson and was rated outstanding. The game where the students have to say which food group someone is lacking or needs is done by giving all students 4 pieces of card - 1 red, 1 blue, 1 green and 1 yellow - I then explain the problem/situation and count down from 3 to 0, at 0 all students have to hold up coloured card that matches the required nutrient - great to quickly see who is struggling!
