Four writing to explain tasks that are a good introduction into this purpose. They centre around the student and their interests/lives. Peer assessments have been included for three of the tasks. They are easy to set up for cover lessons and engaging activities for students that can easily be incorporated into current lessons. These were designed for KS3 students, however they have also been used for LA GCSE students to help them understand what writing to explain is.
