This assembly script is designed for Y6 leavers - focusing on being locked in ‘primary jail’ for various crimes and needed to perform tasks to escape to secondary school. Each child has committed a crime (e.g. crimes against handwriting/dad dancing etc). one child from each task escapes until they join a group at the end, who perform a dance - therefore when adapting to suit your class, you may need to change the crimes or order of children. It could be adapted to suit any transition year. Our class thoroughly enjoyed this play.

Script for 'Britains Got Talent , where the school name is used instead. It can showcase talents by the whole class including singing, dancing, rapping etc. It uses comedy and embodies the true characters of the judges.

This is ‘Arithmetic Dash’ a board game to support children to develop their arithmetic skills in a fun manner. My children love this game. They can play with 2-6 players and the game can be altered e.g. change the time the children get to answer a question. There is a complete game, with questions already on the board. There is also a blank game with numerous cards to pick from. Questions are all related to the KS2 Arithmetic test.

This assembly is based around the Oscars. Each child will win an award and give a speech. It includes a full script and PowerPoint to accompany it. There is also a voting form for the children in class (based on 28) to vote for their nominations - you may want to 'change some' to ensure all children win one award (e.g. best sportsman or funniest). For the PowerPoint, you will just need to add in the nominations photos and names. On the script names will need to be added. The children all get to see their nominations (approximately 3 each), when preparing, however they don't get to find out which award they have won until the assembly (all winning names should be placed in envelopes). I have written 'child 1' etc in the script, so this may need adapting to ensure the right children win appropriate awards, as ours did. The script also includes various famous people (children dressed up) giving the awards (eg the Queen). Our children loved this assembly - being nominated and giving speeches.

This knowledge organiser is based on the novel ‘Skellig’ by David Almond and supports children writing their own version of a ‘newspaper article’ about the creature being found by the children. It is an A4 ‘Publisher’ document and in PDF, which includes Y5/6 spellings, challenging vocabulary, objectives specifically for Y6, grammar prompts, and planning guidance (along with sentence starters for each suggested paragraph).

This is the script and resources for a Y6 assembly based on the TV programme 'The Apprentice'. It includes the script and suggested words for 2 songs. The script has some 'in house jokes' that can be easily adapted. It includes several tasks which should be completed before the assembly, with photos or videos shown as evidence e.g. cooking cakes for profit and producing a school prospectus. The children in my class loved performing this assembly.

This was created for a Year 6 class who were studying Skellig as their class novel. There is 4 weeks planning with resources for 3 lessons per week (the children completed practice tests on the other days). The extracts (all copyright to David Almond) and accompanied by an opening questions (3 marks), followed by 4 support questions, then a Greater depth set of questions. It also includes the accompanying Activinspire flipcharts for IWB (a freedown from Google)

The script follows 2 children dressed as the Head and Deputy, meeting the class from that year. This resource includes the full script and the matching PowerPoint - you will just need to add each child's recording.

This is the script for a Y6 Leavers Assembly based on two children travelling through different eras from the past to find out what schooling was like. It has comical value, and even travels into the future, where schools are now on Mars, due to the mistakes of a certain world leader ignoring Global Warming. My class loved this script, and is based on 30 children in my class. However because there are many more roles, each child had 2+ roles - therefore it can be suitable for 1 or 2 form entry. This is a 4 week unit of work for (contemporary) narratives using the novel Skellig. I have used it to challenge Y6, however is draws upon KS3 ideas, so can be adapted to suit purpose. This resource includes questions for the whole of the book ‘Skellig’ - I have used these questions in Guided and Shared Reading, homework and intervention groups. As the chapters are quite short, there are on average 4-6 questions per chapter (obviously some have more). Answers will vary based on the evidence a child provides, therefore this only includes questions.

This unit is based upon the novel Once by Morris Gleitzman and includes 3 weeks planning and resources to teach lessons. It was aimed at Y6 - however could be used with Y5 or Y7. The attached presentations are using Activinspire. The 'settings' lesson received an outstanding from an Ofsted Inspector. This novel is absolutely spectacular and captured the hearts of my children.
