About Batley Girls' High School
Batley Girls' High School is situated in North Kirklees close to junction 27 of the M62 motorway. The school serves a diverse community drawing students from across North and South Kirklees and beyond.
Batley Girls' High School was awarded academy status in 2011 by the Department for Education in recognition of its excellent provision.
Our school is unique as it is the only 11-19 outstanding academy for girls in Kirklees. We have built our excellent reputation through a sustained commitment to students' achievement and attainment and we have a proven track record of success over many years. Our Sixth Form College continues to expand and we have a fabulous designated Sixth Form College Centre.
Following the OFSTED 'Outstanding' judgement 2013/14, with scores of 1 in every category, we were visited again later in 2014 for an Ofsted survey of KS3 provision. They were so impressed by what they saw that they selected Batley Girls' High School, one of just eight schools nationally, to feature as a case study in a publication promoting 'good practice', released in September 2015.
We invested £1 million in a Sixth Form extension that opened in September 2013. The new building reflects our success and confirms our position as the premier Sixth Form provider in Kirklees. We offer education for girls between the ages of 11 and 19. We have a population of around 1300 students, including 280 sixth form students. There are approximately 90 teaching staff and 95 associate staff. The Leadership Team of the school comprises two Co-Head, three Deputies and five Assistant Heads.
