About Heron Hall Academy

About Heron Hall Academy

Heron Hall Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational academy free school in Enfield, North London. The academy currently has 530 students on roll and will grow year on year with a full capacity of 1700. This is the fourth academy to be launched and run by Cuckoo Hall Academies Trust (CHAT) and is one of five academies in the Trust. The school can be accessed via public transport, and the nearest rail station is at Southbury. Heron Hall moved in to an impressive grade 2 listed building eighteen months ago. The former Middlesex University building has been developed as a state of the art educational facility whilst keeping its original character.

Values and vision

Heron Hall Academy’s founding ethos established four key principles: Driving up the quality of education provision and standards, to ensure excellent outcomes for all pupils. Sharing resources, expertise and provision across the family of CHAT schools, ensuring value-for-money academies. Being a self-sustaining and self-improving group of schools, with emphasis on relying on school leaders, teachers, support staff and parents to ensure a good quality of provision for all. Sharing expertise with as many young people and communities as is possible.

Another objective of the academy is making a significant contribution to communities as a key local employer-of-choice and a provider of community facilities. This will be achieved by being one of the largest local employers, supporting staff through training and development and providing career opportunities, and paying above the London Living Wage while providing a range of attractive benefits.

“Students and teachers enjoy positive relationships. This contributes to their good behaviour. They respond positively when given their tasks, applying themselves well. Similarly, they mix and chat freely with members of staff during social time in a pleasant and positive atmosphere. While they are well supervised, students very largely manage their own behaviours with aplomb. Students behave well in lessons and during social time.”
