About Whitcliffe Mount School
Whitcliffe Mount School is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire. At its most recent inspection there were 1,318 students aged 11-16 on the school roll. Historically known as a mill town, Cleckheaton has a current population of 16,600.
This September we moved into our amazing new school building. It is true that the quality of a school depends on far more than just bricks and mortar but it is also important that a modern school building actively supports high quality teaching and learning and promotes a positive educational experience. Our new building, with its state of the art facilities and purpose-built layout, will certainly do that!
There are five houses at Whitcliffe Mount: Clough, Grylls, Mowat, Wadsworth and Whiteley.
Values and vision
Whitcliffe Mount School aims to provide the ideal environment for students to reach their potential in all areas. Staff expect high standards of achievement, behaviour, attendance, punctuality and appearance from all pupils. Hard work and positive attitudes towards learning and behaviour are rewarded through house points, postcards, certificates, assemblies and awards events.
The Whitcliffe Mount emphasis on academic success is complemented by a strong tradition of extra-curricular clubs and activities. These range from sports to drama, debating, choir, photography and cooking.
“Leaders across the school, including middle leaders have made a significant contribution to the improvements that have taken place and there is strong team approach. Middle leaders are held strongly to account for improvements in the areas that they lead and say that the ‘school agenda is our agenda’. They present as a positive and motivated group who are pleased to be taking on the challenge of leadership and to be working alongside senior leaders and governors.”
