Resources:
• 100 page health and safety quiz (moving resource)
• Answer guide
I have had great success when using this quiz 15min at the end of every lesson to re-enforce health and safety knowledge. I have added 100 popular health and safety questions that seem to pop up in the IMI health and safety test (although these are not guaranteed to show up) however, over 8 years on teaching this qualification at an alternative provision and I have only had a handful of learners fail the test and nobody has ever failed the test twice.
I use this recourse:
• As a competitive quiz in groups
• As a competitive quiz individually
• Print off for learners to revise from as a book
• Send this power point to a learner’s email address, digital device so they can test themselves or revise from
I reward marks and offer incentives for learners that give the correct answer. This power point will provide the foundational health and safety knowledge that will help any learner pass this on-line test. I have also provided an answer sheet that a TA, teacher or learner is able to use if they struggle to answer any of the questions.
Please keep in mind, that the health and safety quiz have some questions on tools and equipment so before entering the test also quiz your learners on names and safety checks on tools and equipment.
Thank you for reading.

Use this resource to introduce learners to the basics of writing a standard operating procedure for the workplace. This can also be used for Workplace Instructions. It contains a worksheet with definitions and top tips to write an effective procedure and a template for learners to use to write their procedure.
It is available in both word and pdf format so that changes can be made if required.
These workbooks have been designed and proven to educate learners and enhance knowledge, creativity, individuality and embed valuable functional skills. This particular workbook is based around the Painting and Decorating Trade and subtly embeds many of the Functional skills required for assessment. Thislevel is pitched around E3
The workbook includes 4 main tasks and are broken down as follows;
Task 1 – Know the basic terms and language used within the Painting and Decorating trade.
This task requires learners to build a glossary of some of the commonly used terminology when Painting and Decorating. This can be completed over a set period as you gain further understanding of the trade.
Task 2 – Show your knowledge of the Basic Tools and Materials used in Painting & Decorating.
This task requires learners to identify some of the many tools and materials used every day in the trade, followed by an understanding of how, why and what they are used for.
Task 3 – List the stages required to prepare a Painting and Decorating area.
This task requires learners to become familiar with how to prepare a painting and decorating workspace effectively, demonstrate knowledge of the various steps and the best order in which to carry them out.
Task 4 – Confirm an understanding of Health and Safety when Painting and Decorating.
This task requires learners to recognise the hazards and dangers relevant to working in a Painting and Decorating environment and know how to minimise any risks of injury or illness to yourself and others.
The 4 tasks can be completed in any order and each page of the Workbook can be signed off as and when the candidate has met the criteria.
The workbook includes answers, although this is guidance for Tutors or Assessors only as the answers could be open to interpretation and differ depending on the context.
I have also included on the Tutor/Assessor pages a breakdown of the English skills (predominantly reading in this sample) to be exercised and demonstrated in each task.
