Three algebraic fraction codebreakers to solve with the usual terrible jokes. They are of increasing difficulty so choose the one appropriate to your needs.
Four "spiders" to help students become comfortable with algebra and manipulating expressions. There is an extension one at the end and the opportunity for discussion about whether there are many answers etc. I have left some blank ones for students to make up their own.
All these are available for free but if you want them all in one hit then here you go. These can be used as a quick homework, plenary or starter and get students to find a punchline to a joke, a film or a song title whilst embedding their newly acquired knowledge.
This is a booklet of 50 worksheets that can be used for either revision, homework or those students who have missed work with each containing a QR code that will scan to a short tutorial video. It is designed to cover the entire GCSE algebra curriculum. I have tried to order the sheets in a logical way, although not necessarily in "difficulty" order, the topics are grouped. Answers are provided.
A little known fact about Santa's helpers the elves is that they are very keen mathematicians. They have written down various bits of information required by Santa in algebra. Help Santa sort it all out. Contains simplifying expressions, solving equations, expanding and factorising and co-ordinates on graphs.
Dounble homework this week for Clive as he tackles algebraic fractions; he's having a complete nightmare to be honest. Can your class help him out and explain where he's gone wrong? These are designed for starters or plenaries and encourage discussion in class. The second sheet is at a higher level (quadratics etc) than the first.
Four different codebreakers (and jokes) ranging from simplifying numeric indices, moving to algebraic and then onto evaluating negative and fractional indices.
Many more terrible jokes in these codebreaker bundles 🔑

Choose one of the 6 options and then say what happens next when solving the equation. I used a template (with permission!) for the music from the excellent resource written by DanielBurke - check his resources out as they are top quality. The animations are little clunky, but do the job - I'm sure you could all make it look like Avatar! If you find the answers already on the slide then powerpoint has messed up the animations. Just contact me and I can send you my version.
These are levelled/graded worksheets covering the GCSE curriculum and split up into topics. Each individual sheet builds from the most straightforward elements of the topic through to the most challenging. At the top of each sheet is a “RAG” table for students to complete before and/or after completing each section; every statement in a RAG table is connected to a section in the sheet. I have produced these for two reasons: firstly to allow my Year 11 students to focus their revision on the areas that will make it most efficient and secondly to have a bank of worksheets available that students can differentiate themselves for any GCSE topic within lessons. This is all of them in one bundle (essentially all four for the price of three). Now with contents page and updated in December 2018!
These are all available for free but if you haven’t the time to search for them then here they are. I find these useful for short homeworks, starters or plenaries and if the answer doesn’t appear then they need to check theirs!
These are all available individually for free but are available as one big bunch here. The concept is to choose the correct order to cut the wires by answering the questions correctly - each wire is linked to a question. Not all the wires need cutting to prevent guessing at the end. I use these as starters, plenaries (prove you can do the work tasks) and quick homeworks!
Erica is taking A level mathematics but is making silly errors in her homework. Can your students spot and correct the errors, explaining what Erica has done wrong. These are designed to create discussion and reinforce understanding of the topics. This is thefirst A level version of "Clumsy Clive" which covers the GCSE curriculum.
Each of these 21 worksheets has six questions and eight answers to choose from (this is to avoid students guessing the final answer/answers) so that Santa can rest two reindeer for each trip. I have covered all sorts of algebra topics from solving equations to linear graphs (including parallel and perpendicular lines), inequalities, algebraic fractions, simplifying expressions, linear sequences and substitution. I use these as quick starters/plenaries or as "prove you can do this" sheets. I have used them as quick homework tasks too. Answers are provided for each.

Twenty seven different algebra “Crack The Safe” activities. These have questions with a choice of potential answers (more than the number of questions to avoid answers by elimination). These are designed to allow students who are confident to get on and self-check answers (if their answer doesn’t appear they have made a mistake)whilst the teacher can help those who require it. These can be used as starters, plenaries or main task and can generate discussions. They are all available individually.
A bunch of codebreakers (the usual terrible joke) having solved a load of algebra problems involving functions, arithmetic sequences, inequalities, substitution and other algebra topics. These can be used as a starter or plenary or even part of a main task in a lesson.
These are all available for free individually but if you don't have the time then this is for you. Clive makes common mistakes, mistakes you'll have seen in class. Your students need to find the mistakes, correct them and explain where Clive has gone wrong so that he doesn't do the same thing again. These activities are designed to create discussion in class and can be used to assess understanding.
These are all available for free individually but if you want them without searching then this is for you. The activities are designed to create discussion in class and make the students think. Each file has a minimum of 4 spiders to complete.
Calculate the points I'd score by destroying these pigs and then calculate the formulae for calculating the total score. It's designed to make algebra more relevent. Smart board file to save printing once more!
