This useful product analysis tool can be used for a variety of technology based subjects including Design Technology & Engineering. Is is useful at all Key Stages. These nets can assembled by pupils or before hand by teachers and used as a reminder of the ACCESS FM Product Analysis tool. This can be useful when writing specifications of analysing existing products. A colourful 3D display that can be placed on a desk or work bench, to remind pupils of ACCESS FM. This pack also includes larger templates which can be glued together to make an even bigger display. There are two file types available and can be easily edited to ensure that it is suitable for your subject/specification.

This activity could be used to support the learning and use of ACCESS FM in a variety of DT/engineering courses. It could be used as a starter or product evaluation/ product specification tool, pupils have to match up the ACCESS FM letters with questions that could be used to explain each point. Document is available in Illustrator and pdf formats and has been set to 600x400mm a common laser ply/mdf/acrylic size This can be easily modified or copy and pasted to alternative software such as 2D design. In this creative, though theoretical lesson, students are introduced to/or consolidate their knowledge of Access FM. Students are given a series of Ikea lamps (though this could be easily changed to other products), which they must analyse using the ACCESS FM criteria. Students then consolidate their analysis into a short presentation through group-work, in a ‘dragons den style’ format. I designed these posters with prompt questions so I didn't have to repeat myself so much when talking about controlled assessment. I use these for specifications, product analysis, annotation generally across the whole design process. I have found that this has helped with literacy in pupils work. A set of sheets that I made for our Special School (Autism) to help introduce Access FM Analysis to them. They were doing a topic on making MDF frames for mirrors so as a bit of research had them do the analysis of these existing products. There are 8 different designs in this pack. There are short hints to what each word of ACCESS FM means.

This resource is perfect for end of project assessment marking against the ACCESS FM specification points at the start of each project. Each point is marked out of 2. There is also a point for Overall Product/Effort and a section for teacher and pupil comments and D.I.R.T sheets if used by the school. If D.I.R.T sheets aren't used a photo of the final product could be placed there instead. This has been an incredibly useful resource for final marking.

Year 8 Design and Technology Structures / Architecture – End of Term / Unit Exam Prep. This document is to be used in conjunction with the other files produced in this body of work. This handy file details what ACCESS FM means and how it should be used to answer an evaluation question within any form of product design. Each letter is given its own heading and a series of questions can be chosen to easily obtain the relevant marks for an evaluation question. ACCEESS FM = Aesthetics, Client, Cost, Ergonomics, Environment, Size, Safety, Function and Material. Evaluation questions can be completed in a number of ways. Each of my students has access to this file, but I also project it onto my smart board. Students can either work through the questions individually or in groups, whether it be as a written task, a spoken task or a group mind map activity.

Product Analysis (ACCESS FM) exercise/starter based on a Mobile Phone Stand. Contains images of mobile phone stands in which students choose from. The chosen products is analysed using the Product Analysis form. Also includes earphone tidies images and pewter caster jewellery images.

This activity could be used to support a product analysis tasks or a start helping pupils to learn about ACCESS FM. All you need to do is cut out the front and back of the cards, stick them together and laminate! Kagan structures are a novel way of improving engagement in the classroom, rules of the activity are included in the resource. Quiz Quiz Trade Rules: Each pupil receives one card. The card has a question and an answer on it. Teacher says ‘stand up, hand up, pair up’ With card in hand pupil stands up finds another pupil and the pair high five! They then put hands down so other pupils can find a pair. Partner A asks Partner B the question. If Partner B answers correct Partner A praises them If they answer incorrectly, Partner A teaches them the answer. Partner B then asks their question to Partner A. Once complete they thank each other, swap cards and then move on to find a new partner. Alternatively pupils could use the cards to ask themselves or other about a given product.
