This is a simple nativity story with songs changed from original nursery rhymes to fit in with the story of the first christmas. Includes the original story of the birth of Jesus but also finishes with some ways in which we celebrate christmas today such as eating christmas pudding and decorating our houses. Includes songs such as: Twinkle, twinkle christmas star. Wind the tinsel up. Baa baa shepherds sheep 3 wise men (3 blind mice tune) etc., Some simple talking parts and narrator could be split between more confident children or narrated by an adult.

After an OFSTED inspection in EYFS it came to my understanding that they look for a progression document for Nursery Rhymes. We use Nursery Rhymes everyday however I didn’t have the document to prove this. There was nothing online to show a clear document with Nursery Rhymes on therefore I made my own. Now I have clear progression documents and it makes it easier for me as I know each week which Nursery Rhyme my class are focusing on. Includes appropriate ELG.

Nursery Rhymes - Poetry You Should Know PowerPoint. 25 nursery rhymes from Mother Goose to teach students of all ages who may not be familiar with them. Promotes cultural literacy. This can be a great introduction to a poetry unit, and students can research some of the history and meanings of the old rhymes. Some of the poems had religious and other historical meanings. The slides have illustrations, and some of the rhymes have tunes associated with the slides. I have read aloud some of the rhymes.
