Activ inspire presentations Contructions, Loci and Regions WARNING You must be quite adept at using the tools in activ inspire to make use of this presentation. It requires using the ‘giant compasses’ tool to demonstrate, live, how to do the constructions. It’s just more fun that way!!! 3 examples of the slides attached Loci and regions also included. If you like the slides please check out all of my other slides which are ALL in the same format. Saving you an incredible amount of time and energy! I’ve done all the work so that you don’t have to.

Scale Drawings Worksheet | Convert Scale to Real Measurements | KS3–Functional Skills Maths | House

(0)
This engaging Scale Drawings: Convert Scale to Real Measurements activity teaches learners how to interpret house plans and convert scaled measurements into real-life dimensions. Using a clear floor plan and scale given in cm squares and also a second version given in 1:150 scale, students measure Bedroom 2 and the Kitchen, then calculate their actual lengths and widths in metres. Perfect for KS3 Maths, GCSE Foundation, Functional Skills Level 1–2, construction-themed lessons, and any class needing practical, real-world problem-solving. The realistic house-plan layout makes the task feel purposeful and meaningful, helping students connect maths to everyday contexts such as surveying, architecture, and building plans. What’s Included: • ◆ House plan with labelled rooms (Bedroom 1, Bedroom 2, Kitchen, Living Room, Dining Room, Bathroom, Entry) • ● Clear task instructions focused on converting a 1:150 scale • ◦ Realistic measurement and drawing interpretation • ▸ Space for students to write actual dimensions directly on the plan • ✦ Ideal for individual, group or practical maths sessions Why Teachers Love It: • ✔ Real-life context that boosts engagement • ✔ Supports key curriculum skills: scale, measurement, ratio & proportional reasoning • ✔ Perfect for cover lessons, revision or main teaching • ✔ Printable, low-prep and accessible for mixed abilities If your learners enjoy this resource, please consider leaving a review—it really helps support the creation of more high-quality maths resources for TES.

Scale Drawings / Scale Factors

KS2 (Year 5 / Year 6 - Y5 and Y6) Scale Drawings Maths Game: An engaging and differentiated game to consolidate understanding of scale drawing / scale factors in a fun way. It’s also an enjoyable way of practising times tables (if using the standard version) or decimal multiplication (if using the Challenge version). The children act as engineers, working their way around the board using scale drawings (24 cards included) and throwing a counter onto a target to discover which scale - in ratio notation - to apply each time, once they have made a measurement of the drawing. Teaching Notes and Pupil Instruction Card included. Differentiation: Alongside the standard version there’s a Challenge Version for older/more able learners that requires pupils to deal with decimal lengths (a second set of 24 cards included) and to convert between cm, m and km, using a separate scale target board when scaling up. I recommend blowing the gameboards up to A3 for use with bigger groups although A4 would be fine. I suggest printing the cards on different coloured paper to help keep sets separate, especially if using both versions with different groups. The Scale Target boards are colourful so black and white versions are included should you prefer. I hope your pupils enjoy playing it. If you can spare a moment I would be grateful for a review. Many thanks. Locus / loci and construction worksheets

I think this is difficult topic to teach well from a textbook. I find these resources make it a lot easier to teach the topics and help my classes make greater progress in the lesson. A practice worksheet for loci (8 pages, with solutions), then a practice worksheet on constructions (8 pages). Then a mixed worksheet (8 pages, with solutions). Note - make sure these worksheets are printed at full size (A4) or the scale/measurements will not work!
