Crossover Problem- Area of Rectangles and Compound Shapes

Crossover Problem- Area of Rectangles and Compound Shapes

A one sheet activity that includes converting metric measures, calculating area of rectangles and compound shapes and working out how many tiles fit into a room and an extension question. The idea is that learners bring some of their maths skills from different math areas into answering a question. A bit like Functional Skills where learners have to apply their maths skills to answer a functional question. Bringing all the skills together to answer a question is difficult for functional maths students as they are used to just doing 1 maths step and using 1 maths skill at a time. This worksheet will build up those skills in steps. If you like it leave me a review.

GCSE Maths/Functional Skills - Pie Chart Matching Cards

GCSE Maths/Functional Skills - Pie Chart Matching Cards

A card macthing activity on pie charts. Learners have to match a set of 9 frequency tables with their matching pie charts. To do so they will have to work out the angles from the data given on the frequency tables and then match them to the corresponding pie chart. To do this they will have to measure the angles on the pie charts with a protractor. A fun and engaging activity on working out angkles in pie charts and measuring pie chart angles that I get learners to work on in pairs. I use this is an activity within a pie chart lesson but could be used as a starter or plenary. Have you liked it leave a review.
