AQA GCSE Geography lesson for the 2016 specification Unit 1C. In this lesson we look at the Uk’s diverse landsacpes. It is the first lesson in Section C: The Physical Landscapes of the UK.
We start with a collection of photos of different landscapes in the UK to highlight the diversity of landscapes we have. We then complete a short cloze exercise paragraph on the different landscapes in the UK. The main task of the lesson involves using an atlas to complete the map on the A3 worksheet. Firstly the students colour the map according to the relief using colouring by numbers. They then locate the major upland / lowland areas of the UK using the descriptions in the boxes and their atlas. They can also locate some of the major rivers. There are also some extension questions using the information in the boxes. They then answer a 4-mark practice question using photos. There is some guidance on structure and points to use to help the students with this.
Hope this saves you some valuable planning time.

The aim of this lesson is to evaluate the role the Black Tudors played in Tudor society.
Much of the content must be credited to Miranda Kaufman, the author of the Black Tudors who inspired me to write this lesson on Tudor multiculturalism.
Students are given the context of the Tudor times, where they use some source scholarship and questioning to decide how and why Black Tudors came to Britain.
Students then have to ascertain which roles and forms of employment they had using a dual coding activity to decipher them.
There are video links included as well as a thinking quilt, which is designed to challenge concepts and judge the value and importance of their impact upon Tudor England.
The main task is some research which requires students to analyse five Black Tudors in some differentiated Case Studies, such as John Blanke the Black trumpeter at Henry VIII’s court. .
The plenary concludes by checking what they have learnt in the lesson using an odd one out activity or by linking symbols and images used throughout the lesson.
The lesson is enquiry based with a key question using a lightbulb posed at the start of the lesson and revisited to show the progress of learning.
The resource includes suggested teaching strategies, differentiated materials and comes in PowerPoint format if there is a wish to adapt and change.
Careers and Stereotypes - 2 hour lesson suitable for KS2 or lower KS3 which serves as an introduction to careers and also allows students to challenge stereotypes and any unconscious prejudices they may hold about which types of jobs best suit certain people. Students will investigate numerous different career paths and assess which suits their skills and abilities best, completing a personal skills and qualities assessment before exploring the different types of opportunities open to them.
They will also explore the stereotypes and biases we can inadvertently hold and investigate how we can challenge such misconceptions, through clip tasks, literacy, creative and card sort activities.
The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities. It is designed to be ‘no prep’, so you can just pick it up and use it, although it is still adaptable should you wish to.

**Same but different KS1 Diversity PSHE lesson. **
A one-hour long, very detailed, fully resourced PSHE lesson suitable for KS1. This lesson has been created for Year 2, however, with some small alterations the contents may also suit younger KS1 students (Year 1).
In this lesson, the students will be discussing diversity and what it means to be unique. We will look at a variety of ways that we can be the same as, and different to others. We will also discuss the reasons why it’s good to be different, and how beneath the surface we often find similarities with people who may initially seem to be very different from ourselves.
The lesson includes a starter activity, a video clip with questions, a main activity that features Karl Newson’s story ‘The Same but Different Too’, and a ‘find someone who’ plenary task.
The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities. It is designed to be ‘no prep’, so you can just pick it up and use it, although it is still adaptable should you wish to.

NEW 2026 DfE RSHE GUIDELINES COMPLIANT (see lesson plan included for details)- This lesson focuses on what all good relationships have in common and how, no matter our sexuality, we’re all seeking the same universal qualities in a good, long-term partner.
The lesson also examines the additional challenges some members of the LGBT+ community have to face in order to achieve this, such as (depending on a person’s background), cultural, family or religious expectations. There is also a focus on how dating apps (and those tailored to LGBT+ individuals in particular) don’t always prioritise long-term relationship seekers and why this causes further issues for those after a committed relationship. Best suited to UKS3 or KS4.
All editable for your setting, lesson will last around one hour. Includes detailed lesson plan.
This lesson is taken from the new EC Publishing Complete 2026 PSHE Package which can be found at the EC Publishing website. Everything is editable and easy to pick up and run with and includes future DfE updates too.

The play opens with a discussion about the diversity of people.
It explains that diversity includes differences in appearance, language, abilities, interests, families, and beliefs.
The importance of inclusion, where everyone feels welcomed and valued, is emphasized.
The children create a “Friendship Tree” to represent their unique qualities.
The play concludes with a song and a message about celebrating diversity and inclusion.
This resource aims to provide a meaningful assembly experience that celebrates the uniqueness of every child and promotes a welcoming school environment for all.
A lesson designed to show students that as a nation we are a diverse society. This lesson involves group work.
Resources include all that is needed for the project.
I made up this powerpoint initially during service on Racial Justice Sunday.
The letters of the word D-i-v-e-r-s-i-t-y spell out the meaning of diversity.
This would make a beautiful assembly in any school or gathering here in our multicultural Britain. It also celebrates our differences in age as well as abilities.
It will encourage children and adults to value each other because we all have different talents to share with one another.
It could also be used during one of the topics in PSHE/SEAL.
