Activities designed for a 1 hour lesson. Includes a variety of tasks e.g. think pair share, placing issues along a continuum line and justifying choices, video clip with a question and answer sheet and a final creative task. All can be adapted to suit your class.
Designed for KS3, Year 9 geography but would be suitable for citizenship lessons too.

A time-saving bundle of engaging worksheets for GCSE topics like environment, poverty and charity work in French that includes reading, comprehension, vocabulary extension, writing, photo description and translations.
Each resource provides students with vocabulary acquisition, practice and production on each part of the topic. There are a variety of different types of task such as comprehension questions, ‘find the French for’, gap fills and true. false or not in the text which readies students for the styles of questions that they face in GCSE exams. They can also be used to practice and develop reading aloud and dictation skills. Two tasks facilitate the description of photographs, in preparation for the speaking and writing exams, getting students used to these questions and photos that may be similar to the ones they encounter. Extension tasks are provided to stretch and challenge students which involves understanding more complex vocabulary and translation. This resource includes multiple writing practice, reflecting on the vocabulary used in the prior tasks, is broken up into a 40 word, a 90 word and a 150 word task, allowing for use with all levels.

Here is a free resource for you to teach global literacy in your classroom creatively addressing the key issues. This 48-page pack will help you teach your students Global Goals for Sustainable Development published by the UN in 2016 to raise their awareness on global issues with a focus on Global Citizenship, Diversity, Freedom, Poverty, Hunger, and Environmental Issues. While learning many things about global issues and becoming a global citizen, the students will analyze a poem, read two non-fiction texts by Jane Goodall and Nelson Mandela and do the activities about them, write a bio-poem and a biography, an essay and a journal entry, analyze a cartoon and design their own, and prepare a presentation. How to run this escape challenge
This escape room can be done without any printing we have however still included a team sheet (Slide 2) should you wish to use it, if not plain paper will more than suffice.
The escape room is story driven by a YouTube video which is split into 9 sections.
Introduction - Puzzle 1 – Puzzle 2 - Puzzle 3 – Puzzle 4 – Puzzle 5 – Puzzle 6 – Puzzle 7 - Success
At various points you will be instructed to pause the video at these points you can go to the next slide in the presentation.
Each video section (excluding Introduction and Success) will be followed by a puzzle.
Every puzzle has three built in timers in the lower right hand corner to put the teams on a time limit of your choice if you so wish.
Once the timer has expired or everyone has completed the puzzle teams can check their answers on the next slide using the CLICK TO REVEAL boxes.
Once all answers for the current puzzle have been revealed move on to the next video section and subsequent puzzle until all 7 puzzles have been completed and everyone has escaped successfully
(Optional) Give out winning certificates to the highest scorers.

An introduction lesson to the geography topic of Global Issues aimed at KS3. Student define the term ‘global issues’ and produce a short presentation on different issues.
Full lesson covering Year 11 topic of “global issues” ( Theme 2 AQA) .
Starter and recap point of environmental solutions, routine verb test, moving on to new vocabulary introduced via a speaking game - students must research new key terms before playing the ‘trap doors’ game. This slide should be printed off for students to make annotations.
Grammar point to be elicited from speaking activity: if clause ( foundation) + ext slide for higher ( higher order opinions with subjunctive).
Writing task modelled on the exam task types and differentiated: foundation writing out 4 full sentences in relation to a picture and higher 90 word task. The ‘Global Issues’ scheme of work is designed for KS3 geography students and addresses a wide range of contemporary challenges facing our planet.
