Growing bacteria in the lab
During this lesson (B5.3 Growing bacteria in the lab) GCSE students work through a variety of tasks to develop their understanding of how to grow bacterial cultures in the lab using aseptic technique. This pack includes guided reading plans for the following text:
The Gorilla Who Wanted to Grow Up by Jill Tomlinson (years 2/3)
In total there are 8 guided reading lesson plans, covering each of the chapters in the book. Each plan contains a 'reading and responding to the text' activity which is designed to be completed with the class teacher with the reading group. There are then follow up independent activities which the children can then complete during the remainder of the week. All of these activities are closely linked to the new National Curriculum objectives and these are listed at the beginning of each plan.
Each plan also has a list of difficult words which the children can check the meaning of before the teacher led session, space to list the names of the children who are working on the text and a space for a teacher notes and evaluation.
The plans have been written by an experienced primary school teacher and have been tried and tested in the classroom.

Growing and Changing - KS1
How we grow KS1/Year 1/Autumn 1 PSHE lesson.
Created with a view to being delivered as the second PSHE lesson of the year, this lesson builds on learning from the previous lesson, This Is Me, and continues to explore Shinsuke Yoshitake’s, *Can I Build Another Me? *
In this lesson, the children will learn about the different ways that we grow and change as we get older. We will discuss key milestones and reflect on the things that we can, and can’t do, and how that will likely change as we grow older.
The lesson includes a memory game starter activity, a sorting task, a story with accompanying questions, a drawing activity linked to the text, and a ‘who am I?’ plenary task.

Growing up in the Circus
An IDL project on the circus. This lesson focuses on what it would be like growing up in the circus. A comparison study between a child in the classes life to that of a child in the circus.
Learning Intention:
To understand what it may be like growing up in the circus.
To discuss and identify advantages and disadvantages to growing up in the circus.
Success Criteria:
-As I listen and watch, I can take note of key facts.
-I can share my ideas and opinions.
-I can list some advantages and disadvantages.
-I can work well in a social group and independently.
Looks at background, families, the job, education, advantages and disadvantages. A little clip from the infamous scene in dumbo to give children a little context.
Follow up activity created on publisher, asks children to give 2 examples of advantages/disadvantages and using the BAR key from Ryan's thinking keys to enhance creative thinking.

Growing up Ribbon Mobile
This resource can be used to allow learners to create their own ribbon mobile about growing up and looking ahead to the future. There are 6 ribbons and will need to be completed by the learners. Once the learners have completed each ribbon, the can then cut them out and stick to a strip of paper which can be glued together to form a circular mobile that contains all of their ideas about growing up and looking ahead to the future :)
Growing up: Menstruation
A social story to deliver important information about puberty and periods to SEN students, using this visuals, easy-to-follow picture story with simple language. Fully printable and can be kept by students. I also have uploaded an interactive notebook which includes an assessment activity. I have also uploaded a one page visual sequence for managing menstruation.
PSHE (5) - Growing Up
This is the fifth in a series of PSHE resources. It deals with the them of 'Growing Up' - identity, body image, body changes and future possibilities.
