Silly Song Splat Game

(0)
I am having to teach Summer School in a British International School in Spain. So, I am trying to reinforce English through song. I put together a group of some of my favorite silly songs when I was growing up. Although, I did find one or two new one's that tickled my fancy! I have a mixed group of year 3, year 6 and year 8, so I am trying to do something that spans the year groups. I have been teaching the kids these songs this week and I though it would be fun to reinforce the songs through a game of Splat! There are three rounds. 1. Rhymes 2. Questions about the songs 3. Homophones. All you need is some colourful fly swatters or hands, and hey- presto!

The Music Song Structure Infographic and lesson is a great introduction to learning about the most common parts and elements of all songs. It is one of many explaining a wide range of basic features for Musical composition and Musical Theory. This is a great way to get younger learners to remember common structural elements within popular music. This infographic is a lifelong tool you will use again and again. Along with a very interactive lesson where words, song structural terms, and a brief explanation are linked. Moreover, there is a Worksheet that can be used for remote learning, homework, or as a class exercise. Posters and Infographics are an extremely useful tool to aid learning and can motivate students to learn a specific topic. They can help learners to focus on a certain idea, fact, event, or process. They are convenient both for pupils and teachers as they help students to absorb the material faster. French Teaching Resources. Greetings Worksheet, Battleships Game & Song!

Worksheet Expressions: 1. Bonjour 2. Salut 3. Au revoir 4. Ça va? 5. Ça va très bien, merci 6. Ça va bien, merci 7. Ça va 8. Comme ci comme ça 9. Bof 10. Ça ne va pas 11. Et toi? 12. Tu t'appelles comment? 13. Je m'appelle… This worksheet has 3 sections, the first is a word match for English and French greetings. The next section is a complete the sentence challenge where certain letters have been removed. Make this more difficult by telling the students to cover up the French words listed above. The next (extra) section involves unjumbling a group of words to find the correct greetings. Again, make this more difficult by telling the students to cover up the French words listed above. Then there is an extension task to create their own comic strip. Battleships Expressions: Bonjour! Ça va? Salut! Ça va? Bonsoir. Ça va? Je m’appelle ***. Ça va? Ça va très bien, merci. Ça va bien, merci. Ça va. Comme ci comme ça. Bof. Ça ne va pas/ ça va mal. Battleships Game Instructions I use this battleships game (which can also be used as a lotto grid) to help students to practise their pronunciation and to reinforce new vocabulary and grammatical structures. Firstly I ask the students to work independently in pairs to translate the expressions. I then check the translations and drill pronunciation with the whole class before they play the game. The students secretly choose 5 squares on the top grid and then try to guess which 5 squares their partner has chosen, filling in the bottom grid with “hit” and “miss.” To choose a square say a phrase from the horizontal line and complete the sentence with a phrase from the vertical line. Where the 2 phrases meet up is the square you have chosen. I use the English language sheet to further challenge the students: they should place this on top of the French version and then try to play the game saying the French phrases as far as possible from memory. I allow the really weak students to have the French version next to the English version so they have lots of support, stronger students are allowed a few “sneaky peaks” at the French version and the really strong students aim to refer back to the French version as little as possible. During the game I circulate the classroom checking pronunciation. This is followed by whole class drilling of pronunciation mistakes. Enjoy! Song: 1 slide PowerPoint: Salut! Salut ! salut! Salut ! Comment vas-tu ? Ça va bien ; donc, à demain. Salut ! Salut ! (tune =  Hi-Ho: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs).

Ancient Egypt songs

(1)
From the gory details of mummification to the technicalities of controlling the flooding of ‘The Nile’, there is a wealth of fascinating information contained in these songs. ‘Gods and Goddesses’ and ‘Hieroglyphics’ are featured and Tutankhamun gets more than a passing mention in two songs, one more light-hearted than the other! ‘Pyramids’, ‘The Sphinx’ and ‘Toys and Games’ round up this whistle-stop tour of Ancient Egypt! “Hootin’, Rootin’ Tutankhamun" is available for download free from my TES shop. This set of songs on ‘Ancient Egypt’ consists of: * 20 mp3 files, with both vocal and piano backing tracks * a PDF of the music and lyrics * an illustrated PowerPoint of each song for use with digital projectors and whiteboards. The audio tracks, vocal and instrumental, are embedded in the PowerPoint - you just have to click on the relevant icon to select vocal or piano only. A separate PowerPoint is included with stave notation. * a separate Word document containing the lyrics. More details of my Ancient Egypt pack may be found at my web site, www.notablesongs.co.uk You can also listen to samples of all my “Ancient Egypt” songs at https://notablesongs.co.uk/product/ancient-egypt-song-pack/ Full Song list: “The Nile” Some Geography here, with details of the famous river. It contains Herodotus’s statement, “Egypt is the gift of the Nile” and there are references to nileometers, the fertility the river brought and also to the Aswan Dam. “Mummies” The gory details of mummification! (Not too gory!!) “Mighty Pyramid” This song provides a description of the purpose of the pyramids, the resting place of the Pharaohs. “Hootin’, Rootin’ Tutankhamun” This is a lively song about the boy Pharaoh in the form of a Hoe Down! (This song may be downloaded from my shop free of charge). “Hieroglyphics” This song provides interesting information in a fun way about the famous Egyptian writing. It mentions Champollion and the Rosetta Stone. “The Curse of Tutankhamun” This song has an appropriately spooky tune and begins with the words: “What could be worse than an ancient curse?..”. “Building a Pyramid” We now know that the pyramids were built, not by slaves, but chiefly by paid workers who lived in nearby dwellings and that is the perspective this song adopts. “The Sphinx” A song about this most mysterious of ancient monuments. “Toys and Games” A song about some of the most popular games in ancient Egypt, such as senet, snake and the wonderfully named “Khuzza Lawizza” aka leap frog! “Gods and goddesses” No set of songs about Ancient Egypt would be complete without reference to the Egyptian gods of long ago! The song refers to Thoth, Khepri and Sekhmet among others. No licence is required for performing any of my material, and the music and lyrics may be copied freely for use within or by your school.
