This resource covers both performing and describing transformations. It is designed as a revision resource for foundation AQA students prior to their GCSE examination. It is in publisher and can be printed as a booklet onto A3 paper (folded) in order to turn it into an A4 booklet. There is four pages. Page 1 - teacher demonstrates the four transformations (see image). Page 2 - six practice questions that ask students to perform a variety of transformations / combined transformations. Page 3 - teacher demonstrates how to describe transformation. Page 4 - eight questions that ask students to describe single transformations. Pages 1 and 3 are included in the powerpoint presentation should the teacher wish to demonstrate on the board. Personally, I think it is best to use a visualiser. It covers transformations, reflections (including y=x), rotations and enlargements (positive and fractional). It therefore covers topics tested on AQA Foundation grade 1 to grade 5.

Transformations Pack: Students must reflect, rotate and translate different shapes to reveal the secret pictures! Pack contains: Translations Mystery Picture Suitable for younger students just learning translations and vectors. Reflections Mystery Pictures 1 &amp; 2 Also suitable for younger students just starting to learn about reflections in a mirror line. The second version uses the co-ordinates axes and the line y = -x as mirror lines. Rotations Mystery Pictures 1 &amp; 2 Students will need to be able to rotate 90 degrees and 180 degrees about a point. Most students will need tracing paper. The first version is on the co-ordinate plane and all rotations are about the origin. Mixed Transformations Pictures 1 &amp; 2 These activities require students to use translations, reflections and rotations. Combined Transformations Pictures 1 &amp; 2 These are the most difficult pictures to complete and require students to do multiple transformations to each object in order to find its place. The second picture takes place on the co-ordinate plane. Answers are included and can be checked at a glance, making it easy for students and teachers to know whether things are on track!

#### Christmas Transformations

Here is another set of transformation pictures that will create a lovely Christmas scene. There is a reindeer and Christmas tree which only require multiple translations to create, the other snow man and reindeer involve a mixture of rotations, reflections and translations. All the worksheets are as pictures to help preserve the positions of each piece that needs to be transformed. These have been double checked for mistakes but if any are found do let me know! Hope these prove to be useful and an enjoyable task to end the long autumn term on!

Activity 1 Students should be given a copy of the grid and the the cut out transformed graphs from the answer grid. They then need to stick these on the grid. Activity 2 Transformations of Graphs 1 and 2 contain some functions and some blank grids. Set some transformations and then ask the students to sketch the transformed functions.

This is pretty basic describing of transformation on a co-ordinate grid with a few &quot;challenge&quot; questions. It involves reflection (in x and y axes), rotation (centre (0,0), translation and enlargement (centre (0,0)). The &quot;challenge&quot; questions involve reflecting in other lines including y=x, vertical and horizontal; rotation away from the origin and an enlargement away from the origin. I have left it in MS Word so you can edit the challenge questions out.
