characteristics of the rainforest biome

(0)
The tropical rainforest biomes are found close to the equator where low pressure systems create bands of high rainfall and long daylight hours that promote high plant growth. Rainforests are densely packed areas of tall vegeatation high amounts of life and biodiversity. This full KS3 lesson and associated sheets and activities give students a full understanding on the layers of the rainforest ecosystem structure, where they are found, and how to analyse and describe the climate of a rainforest using a climate graph. This lesson was originally designed as part of a year 7 ecosystems topic, but would work equally well for year 8. The main task involves students sketching a copy of a diagram on the layers of the rainforest and annotating it in detail using prompts and gap-fill sentences to help them. They then watch a video and make further independant labels.

Biome/Habitat Worksheets

(0)
A set of 5 printable worksheets featuring Polar, Tropical, Temperate, Desert and Ocean biomes/ habitats, which students can fill in to describe their key features, as part of a study on habitat and environment. Each sheet has separate spaces to record descriptions of the non living features of a biome, its animal life, plant life and where in the world it is found, including a small globe to visually represent this. The sheets can be used individually for specific habitats or as a set to enable comparison of different habitats. The hand drawn header shows a selection of living and non living features for each biome. These can provide information for the student but also provide a fun element as they spot and name different animals. The pictures are designed to be coloured in and so can provide a handy activity for early finishers. These sheets provide an interesting way for students to record information within this topic and will hopefully provide a useful addition to your teaching.

Tundra Biome;Describing Svalbard

(0)
Written for year 7, this lesson has a literacy focus and introduces students to some of the physical geography and landscape characteristics of the Tundra Biome and it’s cold environment. Students analyse the descriptive vocabulary and adjectives used to describe Svalbard, then build a bank of keywords as a class to use independently in their travel writing. The aim of the lesson is to complete an extended piece of writing to take the reader on an imaginary journey through the tundra around the archipelago of Svalbard ( travel journalism skills). There is a writing frame worksheet to support students write about the physical and human geography using the 5 senses. This differentiated lesson could easily be adapted for year 8 or 9 and gets student familiar with cold environments at GCSE geography.

This educational Science poster shows theworlds main biomes and includes photographs of each. The poster is suitable for middle to senior school Science classes. Sizes The poster is supplied in two standard educational poster sizes: American paper size: 18 x 24 inches International paper size: A2 (42 x 59.4 cm) File Types We have supplied four zipped files, including two for 16 x 20 inches and two for A2 42 x 59.4 cm. The first of the two files is a high-resolution 300 dpi RGB colour jpeg. The second file is a high-resolution 300 dpi CYMK colour PDF. Why an RGB and a CYMK colour file? RGB jpeg files can be printed at places that print posters (Walgreens & Walmart (US), Officeworks, Big W, Harvey Norman (Australia), and Warehouse Stationery (NZ) even though they automatically convert them to a colour-compatible CYMK file. If you print your file through a printing company, they will probably want a print-ready, high-resolution 300 dpi CYMK PDF. Therefore, the second file has been converted to CYMK colour and includes all necessary printer’s marks. Returns Policy We are not able to accept returns for digital items. If you have a problem with your order, please let me know, and I will try my best to help.
