This is a lesson that I used to teach my year 6 class about converting between fraction, decimal and percentage equivalents . The lesson starts off with a starter on multiplying and dividing by 100. It then offers opportunities for teacher modelling. Next, there are slides with differentiated practice questions for the class to do on their whiteboards. The answers are on the next slides so that you can quickly check their work. On the penultimate slide, there is the Learning Objective and a challenge to complete once they’ve finished their work. Worksheets are differentiated for LAs, MAs, HAs and HHAs. I have included the answers for worksheets too to make teacher marking easier or for you to give to your class to mark their own work!

The objective for pupils is to use their knowledge of equivalent fractions to develop an understanding of the links between percentages and decimals.
Stater activity checks understanding of comparing two fractions through equivalent fractions.
The first main part of the lesson uses knowledge of equivalent fractions to convert fractions to decimals and percentages by converting to an equivalent fraction out of 100.
Pupils then learn to convert fractions to decimals and percentages through using short division, introducing recurring decimals.
Pupils then practice applying their new knowledge to ordering a mixture of fractions, decimals and percentages.
And finally pupils review their learning through Fractions decimals and percentages BINGO.

This fraction, decimal and percentage matching puzzle is a fun way to test students ability convert between fractions, decimals and percentages. It contains 32 puzzles including all base fractions up to nine-tenths, and also includes a bonus ten-tenths to test understanding of a whole.
It is designed to be easily cut with little wastage. So either the teacher or tutor can prepare the cards by cutting them before hand, or students can cut their own cards, giving them a chance to see the solutions before they attempt the puzzle.
Although this product is made in colour, it prints perfectly well in black and white. Each puzzle is the size of an A4 sheet. To use less paper, select the pages per sheet option, and the puzzles will be smaller, but still high quality.

An engaging alternative to worksheets, these no prep puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher or homework activities. They can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. These puzzles are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after completing the calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a decimals, fractions or percentages calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing errors. Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. On some puzzles there is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word.
Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking the calculations in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
