Short histories of the Saints Andrew, David, George, and Patrick suitable for Y3-Y6. I originally used these as a base for drama activities and we then went on to use them for a variety of different activities.

The initial presentation provides facts and information about Saint Andrew the Patron Saint of Scotland whose feast day is 30th November. Each slide is clear, colourful and presents information simply to promote discussion. There are two online links: one that shows a short clip about Saint Andrew’s life with an additional one that links to the lyrics and music of Saint Andrew’s Hymn. The second presentation has a range of activities to allow choice of task depending on the age range of the learners. I have put together some information and some work sheets about St. George, the patron saint of England. The first sheet is a cover. The next two are information sheets followed by two large font sheets showing basic data. These are followed by three ‘gap’ pages which are differentiated. There is then a crossword which needs a picture answer followed by a word search. The next page is about St. George’s flag and the Union Jack. The last two pages are for the child’s diary - the first sheet gives ideas what to write about, the second is a clip art page for his ‘best’ copy. David Woodroffe, a professional illustrator, created the original art work. Version of Saint George and the Dragon included 6 extra pictures added by Super Coloring 4 answer sheets

The quiz about Wales is linked to an interactive flipboard activity where a picture of the Welsh dragon is gradually revealed as pupils answer questions and flip the corresponding tile if they get a correct answer. A suggestion for using it at a whole class activity is given in the teacher notes. A text about St David and associated worksheet focusses on what we can be sure of when studying history . The task consists of judging pieces of information from the text and sorting them into columns according to whether pupils think they are historical fact or legend. Also included in the pack is a wordsearch.
