GCSE HISTORY Edexcel (1-9) How to answer all types of exam question (Papers 1-3).

(2)
After 2 years teaching the new specification, I have developed these student friendly posters/mats/handouts which will allow students to structure and understand the demands of each type of question for each of the 3 exam papers. —Each contains example sentence starters using the P.E.E.L appraoch. —Source based questions for Paper 1 and 3 also have an additional poster. —Also includes a GCSE literacy sheet with sentence starters and general rules - I have successfully used this with KS3 students. —I personally teach Elizabeth, AW, C&P and Germany and these have been illustrated with example questions. However, I have another ‘blank’ set which you can add to with your own unit title. —On the last slide, I have included 4 sheets which can then be copied onto A3 and laminated for the students if needed. Hopefully these will save people a lot of time and most of all be useful for your students.

Globe Theatre Revision Guide AQA GCSE 9-1

(1)
This revision guide is aimed at both teachers and students to help study, organise, revise and be prepared for the AQA GCSE 9-1 Elizabethan England I 1568-1603 Historic Environment question for 2019. I have included 5 possible examination questions for GCSE exam practice and broken down the main details of the Globe into manageable chunks using what I call the 5p’s. This guide, using many p words for simplification, also focuses on the main concepts of location, function, structure, design, people connected to it, the culture, values and fashions of the time and how the site links to important events of the period. I have also collaborated with Carmel Bones and teachers who attended the AQA course in London on 18th June this year to write this guide of whom I am extremely grateful for their inspiration. Carmel Bones is a leading specialist and writer for Elizabethan England and delivers AQA courses on Elizabethan England as well as for Hodder Education and has written for BBC Bitesize. The resource comes in PDF and Word if you wish to adapt and change. I would welcome any reviews on this resource which would be much appreciated. If you like the resource, please check out my AQA Elizabeth Revision Guide, c.1568-1603 which can be found here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/aqa-gcse-9-1-revision-guide-elizabethan-england-c-1568-1603-11806156 You can also download my free copy of the previous Historic Environment Question on Hardwick Hall for 2018 for similar guidance which can be found here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/aqa-gcse-9-1-revision-guide-historic-environment-hardwick-hall-2018-11810703 For further advice on how to answer GCSE practice questions on the Globe and an example of a model answer, please click on the following link: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/aqa-gcse-9-1-history-elizabethan-england-1568-1603-the-globe-theatre-gcse-exam-practice-questions-11967631

GCSE History Edexcel Crime & Punishment Revision Pack/Booklet

(2)
This pack includes: 31 fact sheets for each topic needed for the Edexel 1-9 Crime and Punishment GCSE History Paper 1 unit. Each fact sheet can be copied into a revision booklet for your students. The amount of detail is high but key points are highlighted throughout for weaker students. Also included are 4x revision diagrams for each period of the study and 4 x example exam question sheets with sample questions from Edexcel’s specimin and sample papers. This will make a perfect revision booklet for the students as I find the revision workbooks currently available seem to lack some detail in key areas. Information has been taken from both Hodder and Pearson books to keep a balance. Please be kind enough t leave a review if you find this pack useful. I am about to start a differentiated version of this content so watch this space.

GCSE History Edexcel Whitechapel Fact Sheets - Book Replacement or revision

(2)
l I have created a 9 lesson fact sheet hand out to go alongside the Edexcel Whitechapel Historical Environment unit needed for Paper 1. I am creating this as an alternative to the Hodder and Pearson text books to allow students of all abilities the advantage of accessing the key information in an organised way. Together, the 9 lesson sheets can be stuck into student’s books as you teach the unit, or given to them at the start or end of the unit. This should be a great way to cut out the complex nature of the text book and focus in on the important information for your students. Please note, that I have used the PANDA method for evaluating source usefulness in fact sheet 1 and also provided a list of useful ‘follow up’ evidence types in fact sheet 2. The fact sheets are however, intended for subject knowledge only.

Of Mice and Men Comprehension Activity Booklet!

(5)
This resource booklet contains a wide range of age-appropriate, engaging, and meaningful comprehension activities for use throughout the reading of John Steinbeck's 'Of Mice and Men.' Teachers have found them particularly useful in exam revision, comprehension tasks, or guided reading sessions. They are perfect for aiding the progress of students towards meeting the KS4 expectations within the new National Curriculum framework - this makes the tasks suitable for all examining bodies. Students have found these resources extremely engaging, and for teachers there is explicit information within each task regarding which comprehension strands the task is designed to demonstrate. They also relate to key extracts, characters, and themes from the story, ensuring that students gain a deep understanding of the text. Activities within the booklet include: - 'Context: The Great Depression' - to aid students with 'Drawing on knowledge of the purpose, audience and context of the writing, including its social, historical and cultural context and the literary tradition to which it belongs, to inform evaluation;' - 'Steinbeck's Description' - to aid students with 'Analysing a writer’s choice of vocabulary, form, grammatical and structural features, and evaluating their effectiveness and impact;' - 'Curley's Wife' - to aid students with 'Seeking evidence in the text to support a point of view, including justifying inferences with evidence;' - 'Editing the Text' - to aid students with 'Making an informed personal response, recognising that other responses to a text are possible and evaluating these.' Plus many, many more activities (the booklet is around 30 pages in length!) I've also added it as a PDF in case the formatting differs on your computer. All images are licensed for commercial use, and are cited on a separate document (included).

A way of revising which can break a topic down into 12 sub-categories. Ask a student to make notes in each chunk of the clock. Revise each slot for 5 minutes, turn the clock over and ask the student to recite back to you certain sections of the clock. 'e.g. what was in section 2-3'. Works well with GCSE students.
