It has annotated copies of all the AQA Poems From Different Cultures (Agard, Bhatt, Osundare, Dharker, Walcott, Leonard, Alvi, Nichols) poems in it, as well as practice essay questions and essay plans. It also has a poetry glossary and some classroom / slash homework activities in it.

Works sheets for 4 lessons on Act Three, Scene 1. This is geared towards Edexcel English exam: character, theme and performance questions, but could be easily adapted. It follows a simple format delivering a 'fill in the gaps&' sentence structure which is gradually taken away as they progress through the act.

A quick resource focusing on Reading AFs 1&2. Written for my year 7 class, 4 simple questions on 5 openings from a range of genres and ages (Noughts é Crosses by Malorie Blackman, Watership Down by Richard Adams, The Final Journey by Gudrun Pausewang, Blart: The Boy Who Didn’t Want to Save the World by Dominic Barker and Silverfin by Charlie Higson). The questions get them to retrieve information and deduce from the text.

A series of questions on the first two scenes in Act 2 of Shakespeare's MacBeth. I used these to help my lower ability 10s to empathise with Macbeth and understand the importance of these two key scenes. The questions ask students to respond to both thematic issues and those directly related to the text.

This is a half term's SoW for a booster class (one additional lesson of English a week). This unit is titled 'Music Producer'. The class creates their own music act & then completes a series of tasks based around them. The unit looks at the following: writing to inform (interview / information pages for a magzine); non-fiction design techniques (creating a suitable album cover, with awareness of techniques é effect on audience); emotive writing (sending an email home during the tour); advertising (producing a storyboard for a tv advert for the first single)

A booklet for a high ability GCSE group or a KS5 group to accompany 'The Merchant of Venice'. It assumes students have the text, so there is no script in it. Got to admit that some of the sections are pinched from Cliff Notes and Wikipedia.

A short worksheet that gives a brief structure & content guie for writing to argue. Could be used with KS3 or 4 as instructions or revision.

This is all the resources I’ve used for the lit and lang GCSE coursework on Jekyll and Hyde. The question I used was: How does Robert Louis Stevenson create mystery and suspense in the first three chapters of ‘The Stranger Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’? I started with the powerpoint and research homework. Then, analysed the chapters. Chapters 2&3 are broken up by questions and glossaries, whereas chap.1 has seperate questions. Moving on to language analysis and finally the essay plan. My class is a bit mixed, so some of them are voluntarily using chapter 4 in the essay as well. Hope this all makes sense! A scheme of work to introduce Y9 to the conflict cluster ('Out of the Blue&', &';Mametz Wood' & &'The Charge of the Light Brigade&';). A range of activities, even a comparison with an Iron Maiden song ('The Trooper)! leading to a reading assessment. Might also be useful for KS4. Some of the resources have been adapted from the AQA digital anthology.

Written to support my lower ability students analyse Shakespeare. The resource goes across two lessons - one for filling in the grid and the second is for writing it up in a paragraph. They all liked it and said it made PEEing easier. Word banks are from @murphiegirl on Twitter.

This is half termly unit for a booster class (one additional English lesson a week) is title 'Time Machine Unit'. Pretty self explanatory: you create a time machine, but it malfunctions on its first journey & ends up in WW1. It looks at different writing styles: writing to explain (newspaper); writing to describe (description of trench); letter writing. There is also some analysis of 'Dulce...'.
