THIS RESOURCE
A ready-to-print, Conti-style Spanish ser vs estar worksheet for the present tense, with a clear rule box, sentence builder, six scaffolded tasks and full answers.
Ser and estar both mean “to be”, and choosing between them is one of the most common mistakes students make in Spanish. This worksheet gives them a simple rule to hold on to, then takes them step by step from noticing ser and estar in a short text to using them accurately in translation.
Two pages that print double-sided, plus a separate answer page. Use it as a lesson, starter, homework, cover lesson or revision task.

WHY THIS ONE’S DIFFERENT
Built on Gianfranco Conti’s Extensive Processing Instruction (EPI) methodology. Students process the structure receptively before they produce it, moving from reading and noticing, to choosing and completing, to translation in both directions, to an extension task.
Ser is shown in one colour and estar in another throughout the sheet, so students see the difference before they have to explain it.
Task 1 asks students to give the reason for each verb (description, job, feeling, location), which builds understanding rather than guesswork.
The English-to-Spanish sentences only use language students have already met on the sheet.
FORMAT
Fully editable PowerPoint, A4 portrait. Two worksheet pages designed for double-sided printing, plus a separate answer page.
Part of a Conti-style Spanish grammar worksheet series. Also available: Reflexive Verbs.
